yea i went to this guy who is ver reputable around my way and he does awesome custom works on alot of cars over here. Neways he told me 2gran to paint over the car while most shops charged me 800 to 1200 dollars. i was like hell noo.

so its 750 to paint front and back bumpers and blend them in, sand down the already painted blue stillen lip[it was used] paint grille and eye lids. plus he said hell glaze, and compound the car.

what you guys think? too much? or good price? btw hes doing it in his backyard

Backyard probably not a good idea. Id say if you want it done right, it'd probably cost arou.d $800-1200 to do both bumpers and blend at a QUALITY shop. Thats means a clean booth where nothing can land in the wet paint and make it look like ****.

We get around $350/ pannel to refinish.

The price he's quoted you sounds good for two bumper covers and a full exterrior detail.

For both bumpers, a lip & eyelids plus a full comound and glaze I'd want about a grand.

Two grand to paint your whole car...... thats a steal if he does good work.

that 750 is pretty much a discount Tom, because i know his son, i know his future daughter in law, and i know a couple of my friends whove been to him. He did told me that a good shop would not give me a price like that.

o btw Tom, what can i do with the moldings? i wanted to shave them but they have holes under neath. it will need to be bondod? or welded shut?

I don't remember if there are location holes under the moldings. I wanna say there aren't. The best way to close a hole like that is to weld it closed. Bondo is the el-cheap-o way out, but will probably work just fine. Take the interrior door pannel off and look at the back of the door skin to see if you see any holes for the moldings. Then you can make the decision to take them off or not.

on you get what you pay for.

I'd honestly go for the $750 one. Backyard isnt a problem since he's got a booth, $750 is a decent price, so there isnt anything to be worried about.

i would go with the $750 one also, 350 almost seems to cheap for a good job. ive gotten burned on cheap paint work before and 300 bucks isnt jack if it isnt goin to hold up on wont match right. id really look more at who is going to do the quality job and stand by their work rather than what its going to costs. i went the cheap route and and ended up having the guy paint it like 3 times only to end up going elsewhere and paying again to have it done right.

You've seen work from both People? Who's looks better? Do you know more detail about the other shop that did the eclipse why did that come out soo good, did he hook up the eclipse or was it just another walk in regualr customer, do they have a good rep?

Anothe vote for the $750 job, I know you'd want to hold that money and have what seems to be the same quality work done but. it would be worth it more down the line.

I'd still stick with the $750 especially since he used OEM paint, it would be much easier to blend if your using the factory paint.

What a guyanese man with a paint shop!! word.

you know that there's no such thing as oem paint right? aside from touch up bottles, the dealer doesnt sell paint. factory painting is a different process than body shop painting, they would never be able to use it even if it were available

Don't forget that you car is gonna be alot harder to get the paint to match up than a regular color. So, a backyard paint might not look as good as a professional auto body shop would do

it's not a matter of what could happen in the future.it's a matter of how well it looks when its done. most paint is the same. there's really cheap paints and there's really expensive paints, and a whole bunch of in between paints. ive seen cheap paints painted beautifully, but they usually dont last as long(uv blockers etc, the paint literally dries out and cracks, or it starts to fade and milk up. this happens years later, not a week later). and ive seen expensive paints that looked like a$$ because of the painter/prep/polishing. if whoever paints your bumper doesnt prep them properly, the paint will flake off, regardless of wether it's cheap or expensive paint. and there's no such thing as nissan paint, period. dealers dont make paint, they dont sell paint, and most dont even fix body damage. average cheap bumper repaint is 250 a bumper, you really think someone is gonna paint your car for free? i just bought a used kit that looked like someone rolled it in sand before it got painted, it look me 2 whole days to strip it completely so it would look good again.
your money, do what you want, but you get what you pay for.
