5speed pilot bushing needed for tranny swap?

Hello,
Is it necessary to put in a 5speed pilot bushing into the crankshaft when switching from auto to 5/6speed tranny? I checked the faq's and saw no mention of it but I thought I better ask to make sure.

Thanks,
allen

Not sure, but won't you need one in order for the clutch to work.

Nope its not needed. For some reason the crank isn't big enough to accept the pilot supplied with the clutch kits. I fretted about it for a while and then did some measuring. The input shaft comes close but does not actually touch the crank. I decided to leave the b!tch just the way it was. I'm 700 miles in with no problems whatsoever.

Thank you. Just to make sure I got it right - you left the 5spd pilot bushing out and used no bushing at all? No vibration issues, etc so far?

Same here. It's been 3 years and 60k miles since I did the tranny swap. No issues at all.

I cannot seem to find any information on replacement of the EGR Valve on a '97 Max. The search function returns nothing.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!

The problem is that being a newbie he can't start his own thread, so he has to piggyback on an established thread.

Anyway, what do you need to know?

Cool. So, can anyone direct me to a link that may describe the location and replacement procedure of the EGR valve on a '97 Max SE ?
Or, do I need to piggyback on another totally unrelated recent thread?
Or, is it all about the lack of donated greenbacks?
Thanks!

Still trin to figure out why my signature says "Newbie just registered", when I joined back in Jan 2003!
Must have been reset due to lack of activity?
I guess my Max has just been too reliable!
Thanks.
