Springs and 20" wheels vs ride quality.

I see many Maxima owners that have opted for 19" and even 20" wheels. Very cool.

Some of these owners have also added lowering springs.
Again very cool.

These springs are described as follows by Tirerack:
Designed to enhance a vehicle's handling capabilities by providing performance lowering springs, highly tuned shocks/struts or reinforcement bars to reduce body roll and increase cornering performance with a slight compromise in ride quality.

Observation: Part of the ride quality difference between the Maxima SE and SL is that the SL has 17in wheels, hence more rubber and a little more cushion. I went with the SE, and the ride very good, but not quite as luxurious as the SL's ride. Thats fine because it's all personnal preference anyway.

So for you Maxers that have upgraded to 19 and 20in wheels and lowering springs, how has that affected the ride in your opinion. I suspect that the ride had to get stiffer. But how much stiffer? What has been your experiece?

I have read all the links that Okiewan posted.

Okiewan you are the guru of find relevant links!

This link was kinda scary, I am really interested to see if the Eibach noisy spring issue gets resolved.

It doesn't seem to affect everyone so there has got to be a reason.

Also discovered that most if not everyone goes with Eibach but it looks there are two other brands that fit the 6th gen Max
Intrax and H&R

Intrax – No comments or opinions found.

H&R Springs -Only comment was by 95Max: Eibach springs are a rather stiff spring. I believe that the only other option for the 6th gen is H&R. I don't think anyone here has them yet. I can tell you from my 4th gen days that I have riden in a 4th gen with Eibachs and Tokico blues and one with H&R and tokico blue. The H&R was a much nicer ride. The ride in the car with Eibachs is def a stiffer ride.

Thanks again.

If you are going to put 22's on you can go with a 22 x 9.5" with a 35mm offset and 255/30-22 Tires. Trust me. A guy I know personally has a white '04 SE with this setup and it looks great. It also has a full custom audio video setup with four solo baric L7 12s, 5 t.v.'s, navigation and a front lowering kit to even it out.

I think tire rack has the % that the speedo will be off with the rim diffrence..

for example: with 20's it will have the speedo off by 1.2% or so....(example only)
