Bicycle Carrier for 5th Gen SE

Has anyone bought a trunk mounted bike carrier for their 5th gen that you're happy with? I have a nice Graber carrier that I've only recently tried on my 02 and it hits the spoiler and is unusable.

I'm looking for a trunk mounted carried that can carry 2 bikes - I'd rather not mess with installing a trailer hitch for a hitch mounted carrier. I'd consider a roof mounted rack if anyone has great things to say about them.

Thanks a lot!

yeah it is a challenge to find a decent trunk-mounted bike carrier for a 5th gen with a spoiler. Roof on-top and hitch-mounted carriers will cost about 250-350 after all is said and done, but the trunk-mounted is usually around 100.

I have a Graber, not sure which model, I will check when I get home, but, it works with my 5th gen and spoiler. I'll try and get some photos up.

Graber

Thanks a lot - if you could find a model number/name that would be a huge help!

Roof Rack!

I definately prefer a roof rack. The bikes are up and out of the way. Of course, if had a garage, that might affect my opinion.

If I were you, I'd look at a roof rack (yakima, thule, etc). They're pricey but SO much less of a pain than trunk mounted racks, not to mention the lack of wear and tear on your paint (and your bikes).

Just my $.02

Ok, I have done some research, apparently Saris owns Graber now, anyway, the guardian 3 from Saris is identical to the Graber I have, I am working on my digital camera now and will work on the photos, in the mean time check out www.graberproducts.com and it is a rear mounted rack.

according to "fit guide" that's on that website, none of their racks, including guardian 3, will NOT fit a Max with a spoiler option..C'mon guys, someone must know this ****. Which rack will fit our cars?

Saris Bones - fits both my car (SE) and my wife's Millenia with no problem. Easy to use, available in two and three-bike versions, and kept my Litespeed stable up to 100 on the highway (8 hour trip, bike and carrier never twitched).

Put cloths under the hooks though, they will scuff if you let them.

do you have any pics? According to fit guide here http://saris.com/fit/fitoverview.asp

none of these models are made to fit "a model with spoiler".

Huh - that's weird. The Bones is completely adjustable, and fits anything from cars (including cars with spoilers) to vans. If I get a chance tonight, I'll throw it on the car and take a pic.

Trust me though, it's run on the max multiple times with zero problems. It's the regular Bones rack, I bought the two-bike version - think it cost about $105?
