Brakes pedal feels soft or spongy

I installed pads 2 months ago on my maxima 95 gle. All of a sudden I notice that i need to press the pedal further down in order to engage. It stops fine but the pedal needs to be pressed further. Is this dangerous? What could have gone wrong. Need help as I commute quite a lot!

Is there any brake judder? Which pads were installed - front or rear? Did you have the rotors turned? Did you bleed the brakes and if so properly?

Maybe you need new rotors.

Check for low brake fluid, if it's low top it up., or it could be a failing master brake cylinder.

I'd check fluids, and maybe get a re-bleed. If a couple months later it starts to happen again, there is a leak somewhere.
