300zx Fuel Filter

I'm having some work done on my car tomorrow and wanted to replace the fuel filter. I picked up a 96 300zx filter today because I had read on here that they could go on our car. I compared it to the maxima one at the parts department and noticed that the 300zx one is substantially larger. Has anyone had any problems with getting the 300zx one to fit on the max? I have a five speed with ABS. Also, can anyone confirm any improvements in either MPG or performance with the 300zx filter? Will the 300zx filter mess with the air fuel ration in a bad way?

May I ask how you knew to pick up a 300z fuel filter but not know anything else regarding the pros/cons of using one? Fits fine btw.

it's a larger filter so you dont have to change it as often and it also filters better.

had a bunch of shat done to my car today including the 300zx filter installed. THe filter was 15 dollars at the dealership and the non-dealership garage charged me 30 to install it. It was worth it cause it was a biach to get in. THere is no way I could have done it myself. The mechanic said it probably wouldnt do much differient that the normal filter, but maybe make the fuel cleaner. oh well, it probably cost the same as a regular one.

Yeah and after 30k miles its going to filter BETTER than a smaller one would at that mileage because it's bigger and lasts longer.

Good point. The 300zx one fits the same as the maxima one. They are both difficult to get in (and out) though, at least on my 99 with ABS.

Thats because a smaller one isnt meant to last 30k miles...
Bigger=more miles Smaller=less miles
15k miles for a maxima fuel filter

Again, it doesnt filter better, it lasts longer because its bigger

Dont listen to all this bullsh!t about it being hard... If you remove the intake up to the TB, you will have a clear shot at the thing... easier than changing your oil...
