Is it tough to do as far as getting a poper to pop the doors open? Also you'd have to paint all 4 doors right? Shaving door handles could be very costly

What happens if you have a dead battery? How are you to get into your car?
I would do it, but I think after a while it would get inconvienient, but it would sure as hell look good. Any one got any photoshoped pics of a max with no door handles....?

There is a manual release button that you hide so in case the battery goes out, you can still get into the car.

If I had that kind of money, I'd go for a turbo/supercharger...

It does look quite nice, but it's not very functional. IMO there are better things to spend your money on

Ahhhh.....
Didn't realize that part. Ya, that would be sweet then if you have the money, like bigtimber said, but I don't imagine that it would as expensive as a turbo/supercharger?????? Would it?

The kit itself is $300 IIRC. Bondo the handles and repaint. I can get all four doors painted for $500 or so. And yes, the paint job would be professionally well done. So I'd budget a grand to do this.

If you get it done right would be quite expensive. You would have to get the door handles filled, trunk keyhole and antenna too. Then you would probably just repaint the whole car, seeing as you're already repainting 4 doors, the rear quarter panel and trunk. And on top of that you would need the actuators to open your door and other hardware...

But I think you should go for it anyway. I would love seeing it just wouldn't want to pay for it myself

I would never do this. There is no practical benefit, unlike a performance mod.

thanks for the input, one more thing. My friend has a VW GTI, it's pretty quick, equal to my max, the antenna is on top of the car like how most euros have them, would there be anyway to do a conversion, or would it be a waste of time? I kind of like the way it looks...

I'm sure it would look much better than in the photoshop - that car is bone stock and wet. It just looks wrong with shaved door handles and nothing else. If you have other appearance mods then it would look awesome

Photoshop looks good Dan...

I think it would also be cool to take off the long bar things on the bottom half of the door, I forget what they are called, but the things that prevent dents, right below the door handles. I mean if you are going to go the handles and repaint the doors, why not just take these of too.

Possible photoshop again Dan?

I would have to bring up what bigtimber said before that on a stock car, it just looks boring. what's so cool looking about blue sheet metal? you need something to contrast or other detail to draw attention. A clean looking car doesn't have to be boring either. I would say keep those bumpers. with a kit or something like skirts i'm sure it would look better, but not stock without a drop or anything. a shave shouldn't be your first mod.

A good bodyshop wouldn't have to repaint the whole door. If they're good they can just primer off around the door handles and paint. I just got my car out of the body shop after a run n w/ a deer. Luckily, I have a friend that just opened his own shop, so i have been wanting to get this done. I may hate to c the chrome door handles go, i have always loved the shaved look.

I never liked shaved handles, handles are a part of the car; that in my opinions belong on the car.

no doubt it looks nice, but i would only do that for a show car, not a daily driver. id go for some performance pieces or a new paint job or something if i had that much extra cash.

i also plan on doing this its a great look. you can also take the inside door handles out so that if you were to leave your windows down no one could open your doors and as for the dead battery you can have a back up if you dont mind the weight.

Already did, have had them shaved for a year now I even shaved the side molding, Even my truck handles are shaved, did it myself, was not hard just time consuming. cost me around 200 to do. I got my whole car repainted when I did it though so that price was not with repainting the doors. pics are on my homepage

I think it would make the car seem too stark. I like the lines.

Lol, those door bumpers almost serve no purpose, only thing it stops is a shopping cart, not another door from hitting your. Shaved handles would be nice for a little while but then I think it would get annoying. What if you hit the button by mistake and don't know? I'd be paranoid. Most of the people that rip you off are the ones that know you, and if your shaved, they know you have to have a back up to get into your car; someone could exploit that knowledge. If you get into a wreck and have to exit the car and grab something from the backseat real quick, like a child or something, I think it makes it a little harder especially if for some reason the doors don't pop. Something to think about.
On another note, instead of having a switch outside the car or something like that you could have a small backup battery in the trunk with the switch on it, that way you have to have a key to get in incase of dead battery.

thats what I did, I relocated my battery in the trunk and put a button in my trunk, that way I can use a key to get in and no one can get in unless they break in. plus if my battery dies I can just get a jump to pop open the doors.
