My neighbor in my townhouse complex has a 96SE with a Borla muffler. It sound fine to me, but I've never been in it. It can't be too loud. The owner is in his late 50s or early 60s and is a psychiatrist.

I should tell him about this place. He might be able to drum up business, lol!

I've been looking into Borla mufflers as well. Your neighbour probably has the stock Y and B pipes so of course it'll be quiet.

Yes, I believe he does. I was talking to him about the Y-pipe and he didn't appear to know what I was talking about. He was turned on to the Borla exhaust by his son who races somewhere.

I see kingrukus, like you BlackCat, have the Budget Y and B-pipes so I have no idea what the combo would sound like. I suspect louder than with an OEM 4th or 5th Gen muffler.

I'm also looking for a stock replacement. A local member has a Remus muffler with RT cat and WS Y. I've known Remus to have a nice exhaust note with them on Audi's. I might try to get in contact with him to get a sound test.

With the design of the Borla ProXS it looks almost like a straight-through muffler. With a 14" body length I suspect the sound would be like one. If anyone has one I'd like to hear any comments.

Well, I have the Borla Pro Xs seen in the diagram posted above. I believe that it was about 65 dollars. If you call the borla company they will give you the number of a vender. You can see my sig for all the other crap on my exhaust. It isnt super loud, but it is substantially louder than stock, obviously. I personaly kind of like it. strangely, before i had the y put on I just had the resonated b pipe and borla muffler and it droaned a lot, but then when I put the y pipe on the drone went a way. but, yes its hella loud at WOT. Also, this muffler looks like a stock muffler in that it is oval and if you get the 2.5 in. intercooled tip like i have it looks very stock, but better, doesnt attract attention from cops or ricers. I hope this info helps.

Another thing, this muffler is stainless steal and built like a tank with a one million mile warranty. And it is straight though desing, so very good flow. Also, for our car you will want to get the center/offset design that you see in the diagram two posts up. That is just so that it will fit our car. One more thing, since the pro xs is a universal muffler you will have to have a small piece of pipe fabricated to connect it to the b pipe. For this I ordered a 2-3 ft piece of 2.5 in stainless steel tubing and had it mandrelly bent to fit. A flange was put on one side to hook it to the b pipe, and the other side was U-clamped onto the muffler. THis will require a somewhat decent mechanic.
