Inspection failed b/c of springs?!

I took my car in for inspection the other day, and it came out rejected because of my springs. I have Tokico Illuminas with Tien S-tech's, and the guy said the rear springs are touching, therefore making them cheap. He said it uses cheap steal so that the top 5 loops or so (I believe he said) touch each other. He also said if you go aftermarket, Eibach is what you want to go with. Is there a lot of truth to what he told me? I'm running my "REJECTED" sticker right now, need to get passed soon.

I have a 90lb sub box and 2 amps in the trunk, if that would have any effect. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Dan

I'm sure that 90+ pounds in the trunk is the problem. Take in out and get your inspection then put it back in if you don't mind how the car rides.

The coils are supposed to touch. Even Eibachs, as mentioned. Take it to a different inspection station.

I thought just the top and bottom two coils touched (as in where the isolators go), not 5 coils. That seems like alot.

I'd ask to speak to a supervisor at that inspection station and ask to see in writting their procedures for inspecting the vehicles suspension, specifically the springs. If he can't produce the criteria for inspection of the vehicles springs ask very nicely to have the rejected sticker removed immediately. At that point, because I'm a pr1ck sometimes, I'd file a complaint against that station.

Thats sort of like failing you because you have K-mart tires on your car instead of Michelin's.
