Do you like your suspension hard or soft?

As the title says, hows your setup tuned?

I have my Illumina set 4 on the front and 5 on the back. Its pretty stiff, but I really like the way it handles.

Prokit + AGX set on 3/7. Personally I still don't think its that hard even on full stiff (4/8). I wish there was a skateboard-stiff setting.

Invalid poll

I will say I like a firm, controlled ride, but not the slammed feeling. I certainly can't stand stock softness levels....but with things like SFCs and a LTB, a harsh suspension sure is less annoying

i have illuminas and eibachs, and it still seems kind of harsh at times. then again i cant complain because of the wonderful performance. plus im young so the harshness doesnt really bother me

Maybe my vote doesn't count, but I voted for hard. I have the stock SE 4x4 look on my 95SE and I intend to keep it that way. Perhaps a disgrace to the Maxima community, but I don't care.

My suspension is on the hard side. Even if I put the struts to the softest settings it will still be stiff, just not as controlled. Someday I will get some Illuminas and then it should be a little softer . For right now I just enjoy taking those sharp turns, to make me forget about the pothole ridden streets here in San Diego that I just went through.

Eibach prokit & AGXs, compared to stock stiff as hell but worth the gains in handling. But its starting to get annoying for a daily driver.

i'm installing my agx's and eibachs next weekend, should you start off on the hardest settings or should you "break em in" for a bit first?

I am on stock SE springs with Tokico Hp's up front, and SE shocks in rear , rolling on 16" SE rims wrapped in smooth and comfy Yokohama Avid V4S tires , the ride is soft and floaty but its is all for the sake of my newborn son , I can't stand going over bumps and seeing the infant car seat shake and wiggle. I drive slow and really carefull now !!!

So , yes i like the soft side.

Nick.

i wish somehow there were springs that are really soft given a very comfortable ride but then hard enough to make turns like a F1 racing car. I personally think that my set-up is too hard, D2's with 9/7 spring rate. If i dont have my seatbelt on, i dunno how many times my head woulda hit the ceiling

BOTH!! isnt that why we bought adjustable shocks? It depends on where im gonna be driving. If i know im gonna be going downtown where they are ripping up the pavement, i go as soft as i can. If im going somewhere i know its not bad, i go with 3front/6rear. I love the stiff ride but if i know the road is bad i try and be easy on her.

Hard is better so its not like taking turns in a Caddy....makes you feel more control and I would rather have that then lil comfort..

Hard controlled over soft and floaty taking turns at high speeds. Does Tein EDFC setup work on our cars? Totally adjustable from cockpit on the fly would be nice.

I like it soft. My illuminas are set to 1 all around and it's comfortable enough for me. I'm not racing so I have no need to set it any higher and besides, I can't stand a rough suspension.

I have a B&G/AGX setup that I like. On the highway it's perfect, but when I get into the city (San Francisco) it gets annoying fast because a lot of the streets here are really bad. If I could do it again I'd get Illuminas since people seem to be a lot happier with the ride comfort.

The stock setup, in my mind, is the worst of both worlds......When I take a turn fast, the car leans ,so anything in the passenger seat(CD's,Books, Etc. )and the center console flies off into the footwell. When I go over bumps , the Bose CD skips, its that jarring. Im putting a rear stabilizer bar , so at least if its hard, it'll corner without unintended transit of internal cargo. That said, It's light-years better than most other cars, including my Dad's 1993 Cadillac SDV . That car is a floaty, dead steering , and impossible to park land yacht. Abandon all hope, ye who turns a 12 year old Cadillac.

I wonder... when that trick Bose active suspension's coming out? That would put all those suspension companies out of business.

The harder the better. I learned to drive in a ground-hugging Integra. My Illuminas are set to 4 in front, 3 in rear.
