Tough choice, your opinion decides what i do

Ok, I'm in a weird situation here. I recently got a 98 fully loaded GLE, and since its a GLE, its automatic. I didnt think this would be a problem, but after driving my friend's escort wagon 5 speed, i realized that having auto was a pretty big issue for me.

Here's my dillema. I have about 700 bucks right now that i could spend on rims, rsb, fstb, etc for the auto. In 6-12 months, i could trade this auto for a 5 speed 98/99 IF i can save up a $1,500-2,000 (will not be able to save that much if i mod the auto). I don't know wether i should just go all out and mod this automatic without having a chance of getting a manual within the next 5 years, or to wait 6-12 months and get a manual and keep it stock for a few months, and then do some simple mods to it (rsb, fstb, muffler, intake).

This is a pretty importand decision, and i want to know what YOU would do in my case. Any input is appreciated!!!

I would put a for sale sign on it while it is stock.. Ask a bit high and drive it around like that. You can do cheap things like clear bumper lights, dash leds, etc, so that whoever buys it looks at it and says wow, nice car.. then later on, get a 5spd

well im biased bc i have a 5spd but i wont lie - its a heck of alot of fun to drive. if you have any turbo plans id go 5spd. if you have any plans to LEGALLY race id go 5spd. if you just enjoy driving it like i do id go 5spd. but in all reality if these do not matter to you, how many situations are you going to be in where the difference between a 5spd and an auto would really have made a difference if its your daily driver. personally i dont drive my 5spd very aggressive at all (until i go to the track) it really depends on what you want to do with the car IMHO.
