Bose Stereo Reading Error

I have a 1995 Gle. The bose stereo has worked fine until recently. It started off by starting to skip a little here and there, then escalated into the sound quality being fuzzy and staticy. Then it stopped working altogether (with cd's) and reads error with every cd i put in there. Anyone know what is wrong? Please help. Thanks.

yeah man, this is common. i had the same problem, went through alot of hassle trying to make the **** work, ended up messing it up more. Finally forked out 100 bucks for a 99 head unit, it works good but i hear the cd making a sound as it turns very softly sometimes. Im starting to give up, when i feel like getting a system i'm not gonna bother with this stock stuff anymore.

take the bose crapping out it as a blessing and throw something in there (if you have the fiunds) that will actually make music and not simply make noise.

Seems that 10 years is the maximum lifespan of the original 95-96 HU. When my HU completely died, I just replaced it with the newer style from the 97-98 Maximas. To me the Bose sounded halfway decent (could use some dampening on the door panels though), and I wasn't really in the mood to drop a boatload of money into a sound system at the time. Ebay is your friend, stock HUs can be had for $100-150. The hardest part of the install will be getting out those damn mounting screws.
