Anyone ever make a claim with GEICO?

I have to make a claim with them cause someone bumped into me....where I don't know, but I have a dent in my fender now. Has anyone dealt with them? What are their procedures for doing appraisals since they don't have a real office. I've made claims with Nationwide and Statefarm when I was with them in the past, but this is the first time dealing with GEICO. How hassle free are they? Thanks for the help guys.

they won't do anything without a police report.

not sure how they are with customer's but they are pain to the actual shops. guy next to me at work runs a bodyshop and cannot stand to deal with progressive, geico, etc. instead of replacing parts, they want to bondo everything and always insist his labor rate is way too high compared to other shops. he charges the same as most big shops in charlotte but they want to pay half of what he charges. the owner next door says you may pay cheaper rates but you get cheaper results. this may not hold true in every case but it is the majority of what he deals with.

This is definately not good news. I absolutely HATE dealing with insurance companies already, and if this is going to be a huge headache, I can almost guarantee that there will be alot of cussing and yelling going on. Possibly with the motion to search for a new insurance company also. No wonder they're so cheap. I'll hold my cool until they give me a reason to them. Thanks for the info guys.

Ive made a recent claim with Geico. Smooth sailing. Just showed them some appraisals from body shops and everything after my deductable was paid for. I did have a police report, but i dont know if that matters or not, depending on what type of coverage you have. Call them up and see what theyll do. If they agree to insure it, then they will tell you where to meet an agent to show him apprasials. Mine wrote me a check on the spot.

If it's *just* the fender, I recommend just paying for it yourself..
it's probably not going to cost much mroe than your deductible to replace and repaint a single fender, so there's no point in you claiming it on the insurance and your rates going up for the next 3 years because of it (AMHIK).

Get an estimate for the repairs first, then see how much past your deductible it is. if it's $750 to fix and a 500 deductible, then there's no point in even calling your insurance. soon as you do, your rates will go up, even though it's not your fault.
