loud quiet exhausts

i was driving to class a few days ago and i got pulled over, the officer asks if i know why he pulle dme over, i was minding my own business being legal and stuff so i reply with a no. he says that my exhaust is illegaly moded and its too loud, i couldnt help but laugh, i told him that u really cant get any quieter and my old one was all rusted. i happened to be all dressed up and nice looking so i didnt get a ticket, but still

i have a frankencar catback, u cant even tell my car is running most of the time, those hondas can drive by and i can hear them for the next mile, i get pulled over, thats just wrong,

just thought id share.

its different state to state. Check ur state laws and see what rights you have pertaining to exhaust.

also, i thought Illinios was pretty strict with aftermarket parts (according to my cousin who lives in Chicago)

Not necessarily so (and I'm from Chicago). Although they DO get kinda funky about headlights from time to time...

Chitown only gets strict on headlights, clear corners/tails, and tint. And then only in certain suburbs.

this law is such bull****. if it isnt loud, they shouldnt mess with you. its more reasons cops can give you a ticket. frakencar isnt even loud at all. whats to illegal about having an axhaust? as long as its quiet, it shouldnt matter...

I have the Frankencar and it is definitely nowhere close to being loud. I have heard some loud exhausts here in Florida and I haven't seen one get pulled over yet for excessive noise.

WOW....I'm surprised you got pulled for that. Your car is def. quieter than most modded cars. The law in Illinois basically makes it illegal to mod any exhaust, and obviously the tint. Cops can pull you over for those things, but it truly depends on the cop. One thing for sure, they are really starting to crack on tints around here.........

Anybody ever got pulled over w/ a Cattman exhaust? It's barely louder than stock under 3000 RPMs.
