gas gauge is messed up

the needle on my gas gauge always stops at 3/4 of a tank, even if i fill it as much as it will take. then when i get below 3/4 of a tank the needle moves down normally. anyone know what might cause this and how i could fix it?

I don't know anything about this, but the Haynes manual (you do own one, don't you), section 4-6, details how to check the fuel level sending unit which includes a float. This unit, is included with the fuel pump, in the gas tank and can be accessed by removing the rear seat.

Good luck! Alternatively, you can just forget about it.
