Review for Derrik'sOk..first impression is simply AWESOME!

Ok..first impression is simply AWESOME! The "whirring" sound I was getting on start in R or 1 has improved DRAMATICALLY! I only get an ever so slight hint of the sound when starting off in R and it is GONE in 1!! Also, the clutch pedal feels a LOT more responsive and closer to what I would expect to feel from a high performance clutch. It's not really on/off right near the floor like it was but is a "tad" more spread out in the travel of the pedal. All engagement is still within 1.5-2" of the floor. The chattering is almost mute, it doesn't grumble when doing low rpm shifts into 3rd or low rpm downshifts into 2nd. It's not a "whiplash" ride in 1st anymore. All in all...this was the best 25 bucks I've ever spent on this car. Oh...the shifts are a lot "smoother" for lack of a better word. It just feels "SHIFT_what you'd expect". hehehehe

Even though there have been people with issues getting the part from Derrik in a timely manner, I'm starting to see most people just become impatient. I ordered it knowing it takes time and told him not to sweat. Take care of the people giving him crap first ya know? I had it here in less than 2.5 weeks. This mod gets my vote of approval.

sorry...

...what's this? Sounds like something I could use... My mechanic just finished swapping in an '01 5spd into my '97, new ACT stage 1 clutch kit, and Fidanza flywheel. The set-up is silly, I love it already, but there is a little bit of chatter in first gear when starting from a stop. It can be almost eliminated by revving up to about 2200rpm and keeping it above 2Krpm while you engage the clutch. Its tough though because the engagement point is really low, only an inch or two above the floor. Could this clutch line help me? What exactly does it do? Easy to install? Thanks for any help!

Sorry...I should have posted this link to the original SS Line thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=338081

For $25 how could you go wrong? I'd go for it again for sure. It eliminated those little "quirks" of a new design as far as I can tell. Kinda makes ya giddy to drive it more lol

Looks like I screwed up the subject line. Darn typos anways. Can a Mod please change to just Review of Derrik's SS Clutch Line ?

oh man...

....wish I had known about this a month ago! lol, oh well, my fault. it will be a real pain in the patoot to install that now, would have been very easy when my clutch & tranny were going in. i'll have to add it to the wish list.

It's actual a pretty quick install if your good with a ratching wrench and screwdriver. Once you get the bolt placed in the hole just use the screwdriver to push down and keep it in the hole. Use the open end of the wrench slowly and methodically to get it started. After it's about half way in you should be able to get the ratcheting end of the wrench in there. If not, just take yer time with the open end. Took me about an hour (including bleeding the line).

this replaces both upper and lower with one unit. Goes direct from your steel line connector to the Slave Cyl.

Thinking about ordering one now - anyone have any explanation why this would eliminate chatter because my clutchnet stage 2 is a chatty-kathy at sub2k launches...

I can only guess that the SS line doesn't flex like the rubber one does. More constant compression?? *shrug*
