Buying a 93SE What problems to look out for?

You might have better luck posting in the 3rd gen forum, but here are a few things.....

Bad BOSE radio and speakers
Ticking VTC assembly. ($1000+ to fix, cheap to disable)
Broken exhaust manifold studs (PITA to replace the rears)

Before you buy, run a CarFax check on it. Above all, take it to a mechanic you know and trust and have him do a full check on the Max. Never buy a car unless you have it checked out by a qualified individual.

Then buy and enjoy.

yeah, Lordrandall broke it down pretty well..

To add.. Watch out for that automatic transmission!!! It looks like more then 75% of the 92-94 SE maxima owners here have had the transmission die already.. Mine went out at just 86,000 miles, so be careful. Or get a manual

I second the manual choice... its a whole different car with the manual. But make sure and check up on the manual once in a while. I was unaware of a leak by the cv joints, and I had to have my tranny rebuilt after it ran dry. $$$$$
