Not asking what they do. I've read 100's of threads on that. I was just curious as to which brand or companies are good to buy from. Is more expensive better? Is it not possible to use the Courtesy Nissan ground kit on a 2000 Max? I crossed a company call Activetuning with a good price on Kits. Has anyone istalled this kit? How is it?

Because I'm not that much of a DIYer when it comes to things under the hood. I also read that it cost around $30-$40 for supplies and I've crosses this company that sells for that w/ free shipping.

The home-made grounding kit costs about $20 in materials, and that's if you buy more than you need. It takes about an hour or two to do, and is pretty much child's play (a "beginner" DIY mod).....

If you're buying a pre-made one, I'd suggest going with the Blehmco one, since it is cut to fit the Maxima correctly.

 

I picked up an HKS "Circle Earth" ground kit at cost from a
friend and its a nice looking setup, Gold distrubution block Gold Connectors
Etc, I know some will say its overpriced bling, but it works well
and looks nice,
Plus I am in love with all things HKS.

To each their own, but it was my choice over a DIY setup.

 

im lookin into that active tuning kit...sounds pretty damn good being that it's only forty bucks...

 

so if i am a DIYer and i have 5 gauge wire would that be acceptable for the grounding of a 5th gen. I figure why spend more money when i have already got what i thinkis efficent. What are the home depot guys using or does it not matter to much. Also what kind of ring terminals are they using, basic zinc or gold.

 

Yeah I just purchased the activetuning ground kit, I was shocked that it was still $40 free shipping even to Alaska. Can't beat that!! Guess I'll see how good it really is when I recieve it.

 

I have MattBlehm ground kit as well. But with some connectors & speaker gauge wire, you can makeyour own ground wire (just like someone else mentioned here). Then again, it's not that expensive for the kit either so it's your choice really. You can also get them on southwestautoworks.com, along with the other kits everyone mentioned here.

 

here is my write-up. I used 6-ga multi-strand from one of those big reels at Home Depot...22 cents per foot (nothing fancy) and zing connectors. No need for gold ones unless you want the looks....

I am one of those DIY'ers that followed Irish's how-to exactly and had good results. You can check my cardomain page for pics.

You can do it for less than $20 if you really want to. I called a few welding supply houses, found some black 6 ga. multi-strand cable, bought a bunch of ring teminals from NAPA and went at it. It's much more satisfying when you experiment yourself, especially when it won't harm anything if you f*&k up.

 

I concur, DIY is the best way to go, plus you can accessorize the colors to your liking.
