Spoiler/Trunk Lid Rust in 4th Gens?

has anyone else had a problem with rust forming between the spoiler gasket and the trunk lid? The spoiler was on the car from the factory, so no drilling or anything afterward, but last year, rust began developing and it got really bad really fast. rusted through the lid.
i got talking to some guy at the dealership and he said he has heard of this problem a lot and it seems common. it's as if Nissan used some insufficient gasket ring there, or something. i dunno. just wondering if it's as common as I have heard it to be.
Only one spoiler pillar rusted, the other was clean as a whistle.

i don't know if this is the best forum for this thread, but i have heard that it is a very common problem in 4th gens especially.

I did. Never rusted through, but it looked like @ss. Replaced it with a spoilerless trunklid in my color that I paid $120 for and now I'm happy.

mine's developing rust quite nicely. Just the passenger side is bubbling up. The drivers side is mint. Oh well, you really can't even notice it anyway (the rust, not the spoiler).
