Park Neutral Switch Problem

I sometimes have to use some effort to bring the car out of Park to Neutral and viceversa. I always engage my parking brake before moving gears (either to Park or from Park).

I disconnected the shift cable from the manual lever and moved the lever from Park -> Neutal -> 1->2... and it is tight to move from Park->Neutral. FYI, I have sprayed all kinds of lubricants on the lever and switch but to no use!!!

Does this have to do with the Park Neutral Switch position, or the PNP sensor? Off late Iam hearing high milegae vehicles had to replace the solenoids in some cases (I am close to 80K on the odometer).

I've found that it's best to put the e-brake on before shifting to Park after driving. In other words, while still in drive/reverse and you're ready to park, put the e-brake up and then shift to park. That way, it doesn't take as much effort to shift out of park when leaving again. When you're ready to leave, shift to reverse/drive and then put the e-brake down. The shifter goes through the gears smooth as butter.
