I dont have the time, knowledge or money for retrofitting projectors so im just going to get a conversion kit. I plan on getting 8000k mcculloch for headlights and aiming it down so its not too bright and getting a 6000k kit for foglights so i can see better. Good idea?

 

If you're gonna go with a conversion kit, dont go higher than 6000k. After that kelvin rating, you diminish your quality light output. It's a nice blue, but there is less usable light (which is why you bought the kit in the first place.)

 

Actually the reason why im planning on getting them is for looks lol. I wanted 8000k for the headlights so its less blinding and use the 6000k for the fogs so i can actually see.

 

i have the 7000k McCulloch kit in my max with the headlights aimed low.. I've gotten flashed like 3-4 times since i've had them.. Now big deal, and the cops haven't had a problem neither..

 

I cant seem to find 7000k anywhere....

 

they are under the name Gourmet Garage( a company name owned by McCulloch.. A friend of mine had them on his max for a while then sold them to me for cheap.. My 7000k is very bright white with a nice hint of blue...

for the cost of buying two conversion kits, you could easily retrofit bi-xenon projectors, and still have money leftover. Even if you didnt want to do it yourself, I'm pretty sure there are people on HIDplanet forums that'll do everything (sourcing the parts, and the work itself) for less than what you would spend on two kits. Plus you would have better output

 

After seeing various HID kits and colors in person, I would easily pick a 4300k kit over anything else out there.

i have 8000k and its way better than my stock, i have them aimed down and never got flashed by a cop even when they were in front of me, never had a problem.

 

all i have are pics..i dont have the HIDs anymore

 

i would put the 6K in both headlights and fogs

b/c the beam pattern the headlights put out is far superior to the fogs, i have 8K in my fogs....and although they are night and day over stock.....do not light up as much road as the headlights

 

What plastic did you use for that? Looks like a really good idea.

 

its not plastic, that would melt instantly, i used a piece of copper tube painted with hi-temp black paint.

Actually even though the 8000K would give you a more blueish color that would create more glare than the lower temps. Higher temp kits do more damage to the eyes because they don't cause the pupils to contract.

 

your HID's didnt come with shields? mine have metal shielding on them....
