Head lights

I have a 2004 maxima top of the line... Both headlights are out (went out at different times). They are hid lights and I believe they are factory... However very pricey to replace. It's not the bulbs, I tested a brand new bulb in the both the working light and non working. Any suggestions in how to fix? I want to spend as least money possible on this. Ideally I'd like to just replace both headlights with regular ones. Whichever is cheaper.... Lordco auto Parts told me that to replace one hid headlight the part cost 900$..... Not happening.

Have you checked the fuses under the hood that power the head lamps? Each headlight has 2 fuses, one for low beam and one for high beam, a total of 4 fuses.

Fuse # 36 - lamp on right side
Fuse # 40 - high beam solenoid on right side
Fuse # 38 - high beam solenoid on left side
Fuse # 45 - lamp on right side

Check these fuses, especially the lamp fuse (# 36 and 45) for the side that is not working.

The fuses are located behind the right headlight. The passenger side is the right side of the car.

Here is a diagram of the fuse locations:

Yes I have checked the fuses, a long time ago. I however remember only checking the fuses on the left drivers side under the hood.... I didn't replace the fuses with new ones (should I try that?)..... Also had a few others check it out and they told me it wasn't a fuse but I'm going to check them again with those numbers you gave me. Is it worth it to try replacing those fuse numbers with new ones?

Thank you!!

Since I have mentioned some fuses that you don't know with certainty were checked, I think you should have them checked.

Most of the time fuses can be checked visually, but there is a small percentage that look good but are bad. Either trying another fuse or checking the fuse with an ohmmeter is a good idea.

If you don't have any spare fuses, swap fuses 36 with 45 and fuses 40 with 38.
