Maxima prices not quite bottomed yet, only 600 below invoice right now
I looked at the Sunday ads to see who was the lowest. The lowest was a 2001 GXE stripped for $17,600, with over 80 in stock. Now there is a bit of trickyness to it, because there are 2 bogus discounts on that price. 1 is a $750 college rebate, everyone knows nobody who drives a Max has gone to college. ahaha just joking, but it's bogus. 2 is a $1000 loyalty rebate which says if you bought from them before and are trading it in against this car, you get $1000 off. So you see you have to add $1750 to that price. So it turns out to be $19350 on a car listing for $21,789. At this price the car is not selling and it's already $620 below invoice. Of course they are hoping you don't want that stripped car with a 5-speed, and will bait and switch when you get in.
If Nissan kicks-in $2000 then this car would be a good price, about $17350 for a 217 hp car, you can't get a Civic for that cheap. I hope Nissan stops selling its cars below invoice when the next generation comes out. It's embarassing especially when you have a used one. You don't want everyone and their mother to know you got 6 grand off list (on a fully loaded)!
