Choice of suspension upgrade

My rear shock absorber is leaking, so my car feels like it's going to fishtail whenever I go over a bump and my wheel's turned... I have researched a little bit... I plan on upgrading my suspension... tokiko illumnas is my choice so far... anybody with them have complaints? Any other setups reccomended? If I could get a good setup for less money (the illumnas are rather expensive) that would be good. I also plan on lowering my car so when I add 18" rims I'll be all set... so if there's a set of springs that are good let me know. Thanks

out of the 9,527,385 posts on Illuminas, i think i read one story of a blow strut. probably just a lemon part from the factory. definately not due to the design and engineering of the strut. i think that the KYB GR2's are comparable...or is it the KYB AGX's? not sure, cuz i'm goin with Illuminas FO SHO! with 18"s, get S-Techs. they will give you the best slammed look. a fairly decent ride and good performance.

GR2s are a step below Illuminas. The AGXs are supposed to be comparable to Illuminas but from what I've heard, they're a rougher ride. I love my Illumina/H&R setup; comfortable yet provides great handling.

Good choice. You won't regret it. I haven't seen a single thread yet where someone complained about that combo. Even in the winter, when your struts are harsher, it's still comfortable. I went from 3/3 to 2/3 to keep my passengers quiet lol

Have you already sent payment? If not, search Ebay first, I just got Illuminas and Eibachs under 600 shipped.

H&R>Eibach as far as comfort is concerned. They do outhandle the H&Rs though.

If your choice is not set in stone yet, you might consider Illuminas and Tein H.techs. I bought them for $583.00

No, I do not plan on paying and ordering it for at least a month... seeing as I can't work right now because my ankle is sprained

I looked at the Tien S and H techs... what is the difference between those and the H&R other than the height difference?

Price for one: H&R's run more than Tein H.Techs. Best price I found for H&R's are around $220, while the best price on the H.techs I found was $175.

H&R's are reportedly the most comfortable (less stiff) spring you can buy, although the H.Techs are not that far behind.

H&R's make the Max look like it sags in the back (affectionately known as that "sagged a** look").

After a lot of thought (and handwringing), I decided on the H.Techs and the Tokico Illuminas. A lot of people really like the combo.

H&R only sags if you have a 5spd as the front is lighter.

Save a $100 and get Coilovers. I have Ksports CO and I love them, there a GD for $780 (retail is around 1200).
You can adjust everything from spring pre-load, strut, height. You really can't beat them, not even the most expensive CO out there for the max.

Not a bad choice but you're a moron if you pay that much for them. I'm not sure who told you that's a good price but DAMN, that's more than I'd be willing to spend when coilovers are available for just a few $100 more.
