stock springs w/ aftermarket struts?

so i've always thought since i bought my car in december that my car had lowering springs with stock struts. this scared me because i read that this is a bad combination and will wear out your stock struts. then when i got my car inspected today the kid said that i actually had stock springs with aftermarket "lowering struts." first of all, does that make any sense? and if so, is that a safe combination? thanks for any help

Well, struts/shocks don't affect ride height, springs do. So i think you must have some form of lowering springs. The stock springs aren't cut are they? The ride might be pretty bad if they were cut? Maybe that "kid" doesn't know what he's talking about. Take a look at the springs yourself. That's how i would find out the real story.
Good luck.

think about it, what does an aftermarket strut do (or have) that OEM does not?

There are no lowering struts BTW.
