Antenna Problems w/ Aftermarket *Solved*

So I just got the Alpine CDA-9853 installed at a local audio shop but I just realized on my way back that my antenna wont power down when I pop in a CD.

It will when I power down the whole system or turn off the car...so I called they guy and he says that all aftermarket units are like that (BS). So what needs to be done for the antenna to power down? Next time I'll just do it myself! Thanks

I think their technition didn't connect power antenna wire. Check the installation manual whether yours has power antenna wire or not. If you have, tell them. Not all aftermarket units are like that.

The antenna powers up and down but it wont power down when switch to a CD. I would think a 350 dollar head unit would support that feature. Ill check the manual thanks...

All the aftermarket HUs ive had or have put in other peoples cars the power antenna is always up when the HU is powered up and this is with a pretty wide array of HUs (Pionner, Sony, Aiwa, Alpine) and cars too (2 Maximas, G20, Jeeps, Supra) so im pretty sure thats just how it is the antenna is always up, if it bothers you that much you could probably wire a switch on the power antenna wire. . .but i dont know how good of an idea that would be. . .

Well it seems that the installer used the amp link insted of the antenna link for power. So he just switched that now everything works fine. Atleast thats how he explained it to me...

I'm guessing that some of the low end ones dont have this feature! I'll have to get some pictures for you guys later.

Im surprised that so many are like that..maybe they were just wired wrong?

Check and make sure the radio has 2 remote wires. 1 for an amp and 1 for power antenna. They most likely you have it hooked to the wrong remote wire.

my alpine 9833 keeps the antenna down when CD is playing. I wired the power antenna connector in to the harness and it functions as it should

If you had that problem with Sony and Alpine then unfortunately you connected them wrong. They both have independant antenna leads.

if you mean subwoofer bass just push the big volume button that brings up the subwoofer volume/options and you can adjust that.

If you want to adjust the bass frequency levels go into the user EQ by holding down the menu button for 2 seconds then cycle through the options until you get to the equalizer options
