just bought a V2 s/c

hi, i just purchased a new V2 s/c from stillen, and i am going to get a smaller pully now so i dotn have to do it later and have to worry about taking it off again. im going to get the 3.125 which is 11 psi (correct me if im wrong) i was just wondering is there anything else im going to have to purchase to run the higher psi, that doesnt come with the stillen kit? i know i need to purchase the pully.

A new belt and a something to tune out your AFR. If your doing the install get some gear wrenches they will help for the install.

If you go with a 3.125, you will most likely need to start changing injectors and/or FMU and/or fuel pump, etc. (I'm sure the guys that have done this can help you out more than I). From the homework I did before deciding on a pulley size, 3.25 is the smallest you should go if you don't want to upgrade other componants. That's what I did. I have a 3.25 with no other modifications. It runs perfectly fine (... however, I do wish I had more boost). Good luck.

Slightly off topic, but you will have to shave one of the supports on the bracket so the belt doesn't rub. Do search and you'll find pics of the leg to shave, or ask me, and I'll post a pic for ya. That's a nice piece of advice I wish I had before I installed my blower with my 3.25 pulley. Also, get a pulley puller from Autozone (free rental) to remove the stock pulley. My blower was off 3 times w/in a week. Once for the belt rubbing, once for an oil leak because Stillen recommended the wrong sealant (use Permatex Ultra grey on the oil drain back plate), and once because I didn't like the way my oil drain back hose was draining (kinked).

You're going to love it!

For the correct belt size, look in the supercharger stickies.

I did not do anything else besides what the kit gave me, just the addition of the 3.25 pulley. After reading many threads, it seemed to me that 3.25 pulley was about the most you could go before the MAF/injectors were maxed out. So, I installed the kit "as is" and called it a day. I also didn't want to install too many things at once, that way, if something was wrong with the car, I wouldn't know what's causing it. I like to install mods one thing at a time. If the car runs great for 2 weeks, time for the next mod. As it turned out after installation, I did have a problem. I had bad coil packs and they only reared their ugly heads once I was boosted. Had I installed lots of crap at the same time as the supercharger, I would of had more stuff to troubleshoot. Long story short, now that my car is running fine, I feel I can upgrade the injectors etc etc. I'm currently using the Vortech FMU and auxillary fuel pump which was provided in the kit. I have a Walbro 255 fuel pump waiting installation, but I need/want to get gauges first so I can see the before and after effects of the fuel pump.

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ght=shaved+leg

Look at the bottom of page 1. Note: I did not cut my post off like some people do, I shaved it down and was still able to run the bolt through. Any pulley smaller than 3.25 requires even more shaving, to the point where the bolt will no longer be able to go through the post. After you mount the pulley, mount the idler pulley to the sc bracket, pull the belt tight, and you'll see how it rubs. Now get shavin'!! After trial and error, you figure out just how much you need to shave.

Another side note: With the drain back hose, one end has more of a 90 degree end, while the other end has a 45 degree end. I found it best to put the 90 degree end to the blower side and the 45 degree end to the drain back plate. I also cut off about an inch of the end of the 90 degree side for an awesome fit and the drain back hose doesn't rub the body of the car. It should make sense once you look at the hose.

Are you using Ptatohed's writeup? It will walk you through everything step by step. What I've mentioned is going to be added to his writeup soon.

Yes maam. Well, I do have a Cattman Y-pipe, Cattman Fastcat, and Cattman catback if that's what you're getting at. But, that is it.

Stillen will bend you over to get you the pulley, so forget them. Also, you are voiding your warranty with Stillen by dropping pulley sizes, so you don't want to raise eyebrows. I lost respect for Vortech when they chose not to answer three emails regarding not being able to complete my cc transaction on thier online store. So, I bought mine from www.cprace.com, saved $1 and saved on state tax too IIRC, it's not on their website, so call them up, and somebody will get you the right part. Just tell them you need a 6 rib, 3.25 Vortech pulley and you're good to go! Also, try www.superchargersonline.com

http://www.cprace.com/Merchant2/merc...Code=VTHPPACKS

As far as the belt, you can get a Gates belt at Napa for around $43, or a Goodyear Gatorback belt for $23 from Autozone. There has been some discussion on which belt is better, but I don't remember the consensus. All I know, is that there is slightly less surface area with the gatorback due to it's cross-ribbed design. I'm using the Gatorback, and so is Ptatohed, and we don't have any problems.

Gates part # K060705
Goodyear part #4060705

And yes, you only need one pulley.

I've circled the post that you need to shave:

I've taken the post right out with a dremel but some have just shaved more of the flat side off to get sufficient belt clearance.

No youll need to purchase the Vortech Flange and Gasket from Vortech for it to work..

I believe the Blitz BOV is a bolt up to the Stillen Piping

YOu dont have to change your injectors or do any extra tuning. I thought you only had to shave down the post for the 2.87. Yes you need a bigger belt.

You physically can. I'm assumming you are referring to Stillen's catalogue when you say that you "can't"? It's just Stillen's way of being overly cautious because they think the auto transmission isn't strong enough. If you look in the catalogue it also says that you "can't" put an SC on an automatic 4th gen with a Y-Pipe. B.S.

I know of a few 2000's. I'm not a 5th gen. expert but I am pretty sure there is no difference from '00 to '01. I wouldn't worry about the transmission. If you enter the serious modding arena, you better be prepared to pay for it. Just go for it if you want to, if the transmission goes, it goes. I was so nervous that I spent $2500 on 'bulletproofing' my '96 transmission before I put on the SC. What a waste of money. I totally regret it. You can buy a refurbished VSLD tranny, with warranty, from Nissan themselves for $1800 (even less elswhere)! When I transferred my SC to my '99 I told myself that I am not paying for a new transmission until it goes. I will be doing synthetic fluid and a cooler (sitting in my garage) but that's it. If it goes, it goes. And it may never go. Point is if you want to go boosted, you can't worry about it. Good luck.
