Most basic supercharger setup

We'll I really want to put a supercharger in my max and want to piece it together myself. My problem is my parents won?t let me spend over 3 grand on one project to make my car go faster. So I just want to get the bare minimum parts to set up a SC. I don't care if I am only running 4PSI, just to get it installed and working at first. Of course down the road I will get the other pieces needed and up the boost, but for now I just want to spend the least possible just to get the supercharger working. I do understand that you cannot boost for cheep. I tired searching but I only found basic turbo setups.

Can you guys please tell me what the bare minimum on parts I can get by with at first so I can sell the SC idea to my parents easier?

Thanks in advance, Brett

The minimum parts are... the entire kit. You are going to have a heck of a time piecing together a kit seeing as there is only one kit out there and it's pretty rare that someone would split up a kit, since no one wants to really buy the separate parts. Sure you can buy them all separately but it's going to be alot more time and effort. Just get a used kit they are typically around $2500. New I think the price is $3800ish.

I think the kit is the bare minimum parts. The SC new alone is like $2000 unless you get a kit used, even then I think it will still be like $2k+. Best thing to do is ask them if you come up with half if they will pay the other half.

We'll I was looking to get most parts used. Some people say that's a terrible idea, but I have had good luck with it. I am very good at making/getting things really cheep and saving myself money.

Your parents would actually give you money to boost your car? I have to pay for everything. There is no way my parents would chip in any money at all to help me with my car, especially to make it go faster. They wouldn't even help me out on car repairs like the new tranny I needed, brakes, starter, radiator, breaks again, and other basic things I can't remember.

So I know I need the SC, piping, oil feed line, oil return line, FMU, and fuel pump, any other major parts?

Rly the only major hurdle would be the mounting bracket. And only Stillen makes them. Think Dave or somebody was trying to gauge intrest on another thread to have them made. Try searching for it and put your name down.

Lo-Cost SC

Since you're looking to do it on the cheap, why don't you just wait until Matty gets those V1 plates made and sold. Then there should be a bunch of guys selling off their V2 plates really cheap (lest I say, "Giving them away!").
Then all you'll have to do is find yourself a Vortech SC!!

Cause I'm under their roof and if I spent over 3 grand on a supercharger they would tell me to move out. I can't quite afford to do that right now. Hell they own me $3000 that my dad borrowed to go gamble, but anytime I ask for it they say its rent money.

The key is getting your parents interested just alittle bit...and dont do drugs and dont smoke !!!...Every time they want to argue about it, all I say is " I dont do drugs and I dont smoke " so thats a HUGE money saver

Is that what you told your parents matt?

If I said that my dad would just get pissed because he smokes...well lets just say not cigarettes, and he would think I'm giving him s*** about it. I think I have my mom somewhat on board, she is just scared I'm going to kill myself. They both think my car is quick enough since my dad barrowed it one day and said it was as quick as his, a 2002 max SE auto. Plus I have gotten a couple of tickets. The last one was about 8 months ago for a 93 in a 60 and they flipped out about that. Only if they ever knew how many times I have been pulled over or saw the picture on my computer I took of going 140MPH. I have matured now though. I believe I could handle boost responsibly and for the most part I would only be racing at the track.

V2 plate would be a bad idea for someone wanting to save money, depending on your luck you might have to buy belts by the case, then theres the time and pain in the **** to change said belt....my brother sold his kit because of it.
