many questions for you... how much were the xxx mids alone, where did you get them from, whats the coil impedence, and how did they sound? the answers will also help me pick you a set of tweeters.

I'm pretty sure the stock grills on the 4th gen can handle 1.5" spacers, not sure about the 5th gen though, slick. RE is supposed to be making a XXX component set, but I haven't called lately to c if they're availible.

ya, i measured for the spacers. then on top of that i spaced the speaker panel grills out 1/4" for more clearance at peak excursion. there is plastic weatherguard all over the inside of the door. should i take it off and deaden, or leave it on and just deaden the speaker cutout only?? I want to deaden the whole door. I don't have money for an active setup, but any suggestions on a good set of tweets and passive xovers?

no amp as of yet. i want a reliable, fairly priced 2 channel obviousely. the speaker handle 150rms each, so i'd like to send 150-200w to each one.

Vifa makes great speakers. So great, they make speakers for many different manufacturers.

You'd be very happy with Vifa and I suspect you would be very heppy with a 4 channel amp and an active setup.

you're going to want the nominal wattage of your amp to be equal to or below the rms wattage of your speakers.

Why? Nothing wrong with a bit of extra headroom

And at a lower power to feed the speakers could lead to Heavy loads of distortion when the amp cant power them. I wouldnt call this SQ or safety.
