Cattman/SAFC II dyno graph. with a Baseline graph

Here is my before and after dynos. Mods before: CAI and UDP. Mods listed on tuned dyno.

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/855889/1

Also took some pics of the new 5zigen Hyper 5zr 18s with Toyo T1-s 245/40/18. I like how they look. A little more aggressive. Bad news for the day, sounds like my right CV axle is clicking during right hand turns. Good thing it is a warranty item. Later

the curve looks very good....i don't see the power dropping off like other 2k2's....does the s-afc II help that much with top-end?

Yes it does help that much in the top end, I was screwing around with some 3rd and 4th gear pulls from around 3100 and the thing pulls like a raped ape. My max HP is 219.86 and 225.80 TQ. I was at 205.9 before and 214.4 TQ. Sorry about the 90 I was in a hurry and wanted to post for Puppet and Tommy. I thought the SAFC is well worth the time and money. That CV axle pisses me off though. Rattles like you wouldn't beleive in a right hand turn. I do agree that the curve and AF looks much better now.

Get headers next, you wont regret it.

For comparison, I got almost identical #'s (< 1hp +3tq) with stock cat-back and a GAB, and headers of course, and I'm auto w/o tuning...

Do you have the run files, if so can you send them to me?

Our maxima's air/fuel ratio sucks from the factory so the S-AFCII adjusts this...and in return gives some good HP/TQ increase. I am sure someone could explain this better for you but that is the basics. Glad to see the increase MadMax!!!

I am glad to see the increase. The car just runs better overall. I was doing alot of shifting for the last week because the motor just seemed off. That and the pinging. I have added some fuel here and there when I heard it pinging today. I tuned most of it out by richening it up at the particular RPMs. I think I am correcting +14 at 2600 rpm in lo throttle. I am still considering haveing the timing dropped to 16 when it is in for the CV axle.

those are good numbers for a Max with no major mods... I guess it also depends on how your AFR is to begin with... some people may benefit more than others...

My AF map was a big poop sandwich before. Also what do you consider major mods? Do headers fall under this? Or is that just a referring to SCing and boring out the motor and that kind of stuff? With the headers and tuned we can throw down more WHP than a stock Z. The headers reportedly add 20-25 horse. Brian Catts Max was putting down 240 with headers. Unknown tuning. Thats good enough for me, ability to kill most challengers and still have four door pimpin comfort. Also I was supposed to go track tonight but I was thinking of not going because of the cv axle. It started clicking yesterday in a turn. Any thoughts on that? Pushing it if I go or not a big deal it is not like your wheel will fall off...

I got mine from Karuma motorsports on Ebay for 260 shipped. I thought that was a good price.

I was referring to headers, turbo, etc, basically not your typical intake, y-pipe, cat-back, etc type thing.... btw, I think most 5.5th Gen Maximas have shown anywhere between 220-240 whp with headers, untuned.

I've beat down on a clicking axle. Best bet is to get under there and inspect it for yourself. The worst that will happen is you'll kill it, and have to fix it before you drive home. I wouldn't do it.

Fix it and then track it. Those are impressive #'s too because you don't even have a y-pipe ...

Do you have the run files, and can I have them sent to me?

I am glad that you think the numbers are good. Mob mentality here on the .Org. Reassurance from within is strengthening. I didn't go down to the track because it is really noisy at times so I will go down there next week and not hold back. I don't have the run files right now but I will contact the dyno shop tonight and request the files. I looked under there it is not torn or anything but boy does it rattle at times. Nissan said they cannont order the part until I take someone for a test drive. Should be fixed for next week. I am also going to have my timing advance taken down from 17 to 16. Still got some ping today. arrrrggggghhh. Hopefully that doesn't drop it much.

Is your car still under warrannty is that why you want to have them order the part and do it? Just saying because it's an easy job that can be done in less than an hour.

Impressive #'s and good looking curve...as stated before, IMO.

Not sure about the mobster mentality... but I'm not a mobster here, nor is my mentality that of, but if anyone said something I didn't agree with, I would shoot the wooden wheels on their bandwagon and take off on my own wagon after doing so..

LOL hard get what you mean across sometimes on posts but that is a agreeable reponse for that understanding of it. Only instead of shooting the wheels I would instead stage a claymore ambush to disable their lead and rear vehicles and trap them in the amb....whoooops....I mean I would CORRECT them if I could.

Also yes I am still under the warranty. I figured it was pretty easy once the wheel was off but I will let them do it. These guys know I have been playing with the car and were giving me ish on the phone jokingly. "too much power" I laughed and said I wish.

im guessing a 2002, cuz it says that in his name, but i could be wrong..but his numbers also lead me to conclude this, since i'm guessing not many 3.0's can put down those numbers with his mods.

what's the best place to pick up a S-AFC (price / delivery time) also how hard is it to install (laptop required? tools needed, etc.) and are there any side effects to it?

Check Ebay. If you pay over 350 for this thing you got . Anyways I got mine through Karuma Motorsports. 260 shipped. I thought that was good seeming the price varies to 500 some places. I got mine in about 5 days but you could express ship it I am sure ( for about 40 more bucks). No laptop needed to install unless you go to the >org like I had to do. Most of the wiring is fairly straight forward if you know about car wiring. The trickiest part was wiring the MAF sensor correctly. You can look on my HP to see where I put mine, I wanted it hidden. But I also took a ton of stuff off the car. Trim peices galore, the glove box, carpet etc. You will need solder, solder gun (cool heat if you are super cool) and I found a drill gun with a bit handy. Also you need to disc the battery and reset the ECU. Then I would HIGHLY recommend you have a dyno shop tune the high and lo throttle for you. My shop did mine for 100 bucks and it took about an hour to do the actual job. Hope that helps

damn this thread has got me seriously thinkin about getting one. i know the 5.5's have spikes in the graphs that the SAFC helps out alot, but would it be a considerable difference for a 5th gen? how much gain would u get with a 5th gen (if anyone knows)
this may be my next mod?

Well I can say that I love it. It gave me 14whp/8wtq and I haven't gotten an SES light since I got it hooked up.

And I can't beleive how hard it pulls, especially in 3rd and 4th. It just goes and then goes some more and I get to speed alot easier. I was driving to work being NICE because of the clicking CV axle. Well lordy lordy what do we come up on but a totally stock 2k2/2k3 SE toodling along at the speed limit. I couldn't resist and the next passing zone I got up next to him and gave him the old 4/3 shift. First hard shot I have given it really. Got up and ran....awesome. I can't wait to fix that axle and get down to the track. These T1-s tires are going to tear it up. And the SAFC is a neat little widget. Zero regrets for the money.

There is a wiring diagram listed somwhere on here. Look for 2k3 wiring diagram post. Or Apexi 2002 Maxima. I found it already before, saved it on another computer, looked (briefly) for you and decided to quit looking because it was killing my buzz. Ask puppetmaster for it, that guy has links up to his ears and deep down it makes him happy to give them to you.
