Flywheel Friction Plate

Im planning on upgrading to a fidanza flywheel and i see that they also sell a friction plate. What is a friction plate and should this be purchased and installed along with the flywheel?

Unit comes with one. If you ever burnt up your friction plate, you can just replace that vs the whole flywheel. Much cheaper. Plus since the unit is aluminum, it needs something mure durable than that to mate with the clutch disc material.
