Yesterday, I went out to get in my car. It's been very hot here in VA, so the air conditioner is already on when I start the car. When I pull out onto the road, there is some major hesitation. Then, my SES light starts to flash. Has anyone ever had their SES light flash? I start to think my ignition coil is acting up again, but it's never done this before. This, of course, makes me nervous, so my first reaction is to shut off the air conditioner. Immediately, the SES light goes off and the car starts running smoother. I'm very puzzled by this. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this with the A/C and the SES light? Any suggestions?

It has been very hot here in NY also....I had the A/C on most of the day....and I noticed some major hesitation...and the car was shaking, even just coasting down a hill. It was really odd, and I've never experienced that before.

The car is fine as soon as I turn the A/C off. And I don't have any SES. Hmmmm.

 

Get the code pulled ASAP from Autozone. My understanding is if the SES light blinks it is a more significant problem than if it is just on.

 

My guess was because the compressor put a heavy load on the engine. Normally a compressor should not draw that much power from engine. A seized compressor?? Have your A/C compressor checked out
