Has anyone tried this (black rims ons black max)? I have a 98 SE and I'm thinking of getting black rims to have that all black combo. I was wondering if any of you have pix. Im thinking of getting those -> http://www.rim1.com/spiderdg.htm . What do you guys think?

Well, I just saw a little Honda Hatchback earlier today and it was black with black rims. It was sick looking. Although this may look different on a Maxima, I think that the whole idea of black on black would be quite odd. Try some photoshop pictures or something. Good luck

Personally IMO I dont like any black or tinted/colored rims....it just dont look right to me. I gotta have shiny crome or alloy that way they look "clean". Black/bronzed colored rims always look like they got hella brake dust on them and need to be wiped off....but that's just how I perceive them.

I know the Gunmetal finish looks good on a black car. I know someone who has a black Integra with them. I bet Anthracite finish would look good too!

That's what I've been saving up for!

I've been trying to decide whether I should just get some wheels in silver or something in get them powedercoated in black or gunmetal...or take my pick from the somewhat limited selection of wheels in that finish.

I almost got some 3rd gen wheels for $20 on Ebay. I would have gotten them powdercoated.

Make sure your car is lowered. It will look nice with a tight profile and the all black car. It's good you have an SE, the spoiler will be a nice touch.

rims

yeah, those rims in the link are fake mugen MF-8s... a friend has a set of them (the real ones, Mugens) in bronze. anyhow, i had black wheels on my black civic... it looked cool to the 3 people in my town where were into JDM stuff... everyone else thought it looked stupid and thought i had lost my hubcaps or something. its all up to you... but it would definately be different looking on a max.

Yeah, try dropping pics of those rims into photoshop with your car. Black/gunmetal can be tricky with black cars.

I had black Riken rims on my gold ProbeGT in the past and that was a good match.

Go to the Dark Side

The photo shop idea is a good one.

You might also try going to Tire Rack.
They don't carry the rims you want
but you can see what your car would look like with dark rims.

Persoanlly, I think dark wheels on a dark car would look sweet.

I have a Neptune Blue 97 SE and I'v been looking at wheels for a while now.
I definately want dark rims.
[also want to tint my front clear corners and rears,
tint the windows and shave it]

At first I was liking the Team Loco 142s but they weigh a lot.

I think I'm going to go with the Kosei K1s in Anthracite:
16 x 7.5 are only 15.5 lbs. [$159ea @ TireRack]
[not available in 17" in Anthracite - damn!]

other dark wheels:

SSR Competitions [aka: Type-C]
16x7 11.0 lbs.
16x8 12.1 lbs.
17x7.5 12.7 lbs. [$375ea @ TireRack]
17x8 13.1 lbs.
[light, but I don't like the graphics on the wheel, and expensive.]

SSR Integral
17x7 17.0 - 16 or 17 lbs.? [$299ea @ TireRack]
17x8 18.0 lbs.

Tenzo R - AV7 [Gunmetal]
17 x 7 - 20 lbs. [$165ea @ scvmotorworks.com]

Team Loco 142
16 x 7 - 22 lbs. [$139ea @ TireRack]

TSW Revo - now available in anthracite!
17 x 7 - 25 lbs. - prolly around $175 each
17 x 8 - 25.75 lbs.
[like the look, but heavy]

5Zigen Fireball - Hyperblack -
17x7 with a +42 and +48 offset - 18 lbs.
$187.50 each www.afsmotorsports.com

Nippon - Taiko [wheelmax]
17 x 7 - 21 lbs

Racing Sparco NT-R
17 x 7 - 15.4 lbs $375 each Autoimaging.com

TRD Sports T3
17 x 7.5 - 18.5 lbs / 17 x 8 - 18.7 lbs
[not sure if this will fit a Maxima]

Momo RACER EVO 1
17x8 - 27.3 lbs

O.Z. F1 Cup
17 x 7 - 25 lbs. [$250ea @ TireRack]
18 x 8 - 25.3 lbs.

Whatever you do, do what YOU like.
It's your car, who cares what somebody else thinks?

And hey, if they don't like your wheels,
just tell them they can buy you a set of whatever they want...

The Black wheels would look sick on a jet black car. Like someone else stated, if your car is lowered it would look better. I'm thinking about getting some white rims on a dark green car. Don't ask me why, just to be different I guess.

sick as in good
or sick as in bad?

like you be illin'?

I think white wheels could look nice.

It is amazing how many wheel choices there are
- must be thousands.
And equally amazing just how ugly most of them are.

Well, whatever floats your boat [so to speak].

ok, I can see your point
- if they looked like cheap stamped rims...

But they ones I've been interested in
[see my earlier post above]
don't look like that

Personally, I like the idea of an all dark car,
tinted windows, dark wheels, no chrome, not even the logos.

Man, some of the chrome wheels are so gaudy/flashy/showy.
LOOK AT ME HEY LOOK AT ME HERE I AM

I'd rather be more subtle
[not to insult alla yous riding on chromes...]

I dont know about that... personally when I look at my own or others Maxes, they look "classy"... you know, fast, smooth and a car that makes alot of sense. (More sense when they are modded) I think if you put the black rims on, you will lose the class factor and then enter the new class of ... Rice. Not my style on a Max... It should look exotic (euro style I guess)... Black rims on cars these days are usually riced.

Rice is nice

or, who's wedding is this anyway?

I find it facinating all the different ways people on these boards mod their Maxs.

Some are all go and no show
others are just into the cosmetics
and some just want the killer stereo...

I also find it interesting how strong opinions can be
and also how bent out of shape some can get when somebody else doesn't agree.
[just check out the thread about putting a GTR badge on your Maxima.
Some think it's ok and, by the sound of it,
some would be willing to kill you for such an evil transgression]

I just think it's neat that so many people try so many different things.

So, you don't think dark wheels look classy?
'sokay, yer still my Maxima buddy.
[and I'm still gonna put the anthracite Kosei K1s on my Max]

Personally I think showy, chrome wheels belong on Pimp-mobiles.

whatever dude

One man's nice is another man's rice...

Black momo arrow

When I was getting 18" Arrows, the guy had a set of 18" black momo arrows, that I was considering of getting...That's the only set I would consider getting in black, otherwise I think I would look rice to me w/ other wheels...But its just my 2cents

I want to do the same thing. I can't decide between black wheels or gunmetal. I think either one will look silly good!

Then maybe I should get some black rims. I find it kind of hard to get people to race me these days.

dont get just black rims. definitely get the gunmetal finish style, like adrwheels HMC Black or the ACE Hyperblack style. personally, i think just black painted or powder coat black rims look nasty. Also, the light grey ultra light rims look cool, i forget what its made of. i plan to do the whole stealth max look. we might as well, the ones with a black on black maxs.

I'm not about to do it... but if I was to go black on black I would want a black rim with a silver lip and would have to go uncle max style on the back

Personally, i think white on white looks really good. black on black is wack. it looks like this black altima that used to ride around my neighborhood that had all the hubcaps taken off. i think the idea of black on black sounds good at first but you'd get tired of it.
