I wouldn’t do that. You will lose high beam beside that the reflectors aren’t designed for HID. There are good write-ups about this problem on HIDplanet.com

Yeah that's true. You won't have any high beams. Remember the 5.5 gen have a double headlight configuration which gives you a separate lense for the low beam which is H.I.D and a separate lens for the high beam (non HID). As you already know your 00/01 has a different set-up. Unless you could find a way to fit the new 6th gen bulb in your 00/01 housing since the 6th gen have bi-level xenon and it believe if you use the 6th gen bulb, it is much more complicated than just putting in a bulb. But don't quote me on on the 6th gen part just in case someone out there has found a way to modify it and make it work. Good luck!

ask larrio... he put HIDs in his 2k1 AE...

I dont recommended either but if you really want to do it you buy a d2r bulb that is rebased for h4 sockets. Also, i think its recommended to use a casper shield.

Yeah, there's no way you can put a D2R bulb in the 2k-2k1 headlamp housings. Even if you retrofit in a H4 socket, where is the high beams? Also, the HID bulb is not made for the lens either. Installing this bulb in this kind of lens would probably give you a weird beam pattern. It'll probably put glare all over the place.

u can get h4 with both highs and lows, but the the highs are useless, dont bother wasting money on the high/low, or(bi-xenon) just get the standard low kit, if u want more light, get another set of fogs or soemthing, the high/low kit isnt like the stock high lows

search for casper electronics if you want a d2r bulb socket with h4 housing. Its shielded at the right angle also for the right beam pattern with no glare. Or you can search around ebay for people that sell it
