Where did your run YOUR stereo wires?

It seems everybody I have asked runs their wires just a bit differently. So I ask all of you with aftermarket speakers/HU's/subs and amps to tell me how and where you ran your wires.

Also, in your response it would be cool too if you said how you got the carpet up and if you were able to put it back nice enough or not.

I think this will be interesting and informative enough for a thread topic, sorry if I'm wrong.

Maybe not wrong topic, but wrong forum probably.

I didn't run anyting on mine, but the owners before ran it under the carpet and through the firewall.

Sorry if it's the wrong forum. I was going to post in an Electronics thread but thought that I would like to see 4th Gen specific answers.

i ripped off my door sills, then took the carpet off and ran my wire under there.. the 4 gauge is kinda bulky but it provides MORE POWER
then I ran it behind my back seats, then UNDER the middle console thing... there is a gap.. You just need to find it.
Make sure you run your power wire on the opposite side of the car as the RCA's , because the power wire creates a magnetic field, which could alter your RCA's sound signal
the only hole i drilled was in the drivers side firewall

awesome. so basically the best way is to take off all four door sills, run the RCAs through one side and the power wire through the other side. That's good to know. When you say, "under the seat" do you mean you took the seat out? Also, how did you all get the RCAs from behind the deck to underneath the carpet?

i ran mine the same as crockpot. no problems with interference, only running a 300W amp. i found a hole with a rubber grommet in the firewall, poked out the middle and ran the power through that. i pulled off the rear seat bottom and back and found a hole somewhere on the drivers side to run the wires through.

if it's just for subs then u can run them all together, that's what I did and I never get interference at all.

well, i am actually in the process of getting my system installed. I ran the rca's down the right side like everyone else, and the ground/battery down left side and grounded them below the left backseat where your butt goes. I ran the spkr wires from my front components (tweet and mid wires) down the side the speaker is on only up until the front seats where they meet my crossover mounted beneath the passagenger side front seat (only small cut in carpet needed and looks clean.) all in all i am not worried one bit about the carpet looking good when i put it back together (still have to hook up sub and sub amp and led amp wire and rear speakers to amp) because it simply snaps back on. don't be worried about messing it up because you just pull clips out and pop em back in. i want music now already! good luck

Thank you all for your responses. I tried to disguise the thread as some sorta poll, but truth is I just wanted to know the best way to do it. You guys told me just that. I had been thinking I'd need to pull all my carpet out and run the wires through the center console or something retarded like that. GOod to know there's an easier way, probably would have found it eventually, but this sure makes it easier.

ran power around the edge of the engine bay, to the very top corner of the hood and on the inside of the door through the rubber seal for the door controls. just as good as the firewall i think. easy to do
remote is tucked under the shifter console to the back and under the rear seats, power meets up with the remote but runs under the door sils also tucked in. its pretty tight tucking it in so it isnt going to go anywhere and i didnt have to drill or do anything fancy. you can, but i was lazy.
ground in the trunk is on the box under the left side interior panel ..i think its the antenna or key fob receiver. i had a problem finding a good ground having such a short wire.

no problem man...oh by the way i know a ton of people think running the ground with the spkr wires will cause distortion, but truth is if it does it is NOT audible to the human ear. i would rather run them seperate just because it is more of a placebo thing cuz im a perfectionist like that, but dont worry about them being near eachother. my old setup was that way and never hear any distortion. i might get flamed for this because everyone believes this common myth, but go to caraudio.com and check it out if you don't think im right! this could save alot of people a good amnt of time and headache so thought id let yall know! good luck

i ran all my wires down the driver side. it's tucked under the carpet near the door sills, then goes under the rear seat cushion, and finally into the trunk. and like elinett said, running all the wires will NOT give you noise if all your connections are good and secure (mainly the grounding points).

yeh, oh just fyi, if there is any noise from the wires run near eachother it is most likely an alternator prob and will be alt. whine not any distortion

odds are it is caused by a ground making poor contact to the chassis. that's why it's important to make sure the grounding point is free of any paint/dirt/contaminants.

Running wires together causing interference is purely a Myth, nothing more. You will Not in any way shape or form get any noise from running them together.

I personally removed all of my seats, carpet, console, etc and ran mine. Dampened the entire bare floor, then laid out my wiring. No need to go this route, if its just a basic install though.

Im not implying that it would cause any problems. As it would not. Just stating you could do it either way, doesnt matter. There really isnt a right or wrong to it.
