s/c being discontinued?

i just ordered a s/c from stillen, i sent an email to get a progress report on everything and recieved this email back:

Chris,
The supercharger is about to be discontinued and you are getting one of the last few we will sell so we are having a hard time finding parts. We only need just one or two tiny specific parts the rest is fully stocked. If I get an update I will let you know. Its hard to tell but it could take another week. I will try to check in again on Friday.
=Trevor@Stillen

so i guess if ur thinking about getting a s/c u should do it now?

D@mn. Now I would have to go turbo and hack up the headers. That would be ok I guees since I found a way to do it and keep the headers manifolds.

That means guys with SC's won't be able to get their blowers rebuilt?

Guess we'll have to adapt the newer ones they are developping the Altima/5th/6th gens.

Vortech rebuilds them.

I know the guy that tunes my car expressed interest in making the blower plates when he found out how much they cost. That would solve one of the potential problems. I think the other 2 problems would be the Belt adjuster bracket and oil return plate

And the third problem would be getting one of those kits. I was considering getting one for my vq35 in like 2 years (since I use the vq30 timing chain) and I want to keep the Cattman headers, I love them.

The Altima has grown in size and power; a lot of people I talk to don't see a big difference between the Altima and the Max these days. Both FWD 4 doors available with a 3.5L engine. For modders, more stuff available for the Altima.

In a couple of years (or whenever I crash), I think my next car will be a G35 sedan. Boosted, of course. It's a 350z with room for 2 kids and a couple sacks of groceries.

Good...

Hopefully, someone like Vortech, Rippmods, ATI, etc. might consider producing a universal auto and 5spd kit the way it should have been done, ie on the drivers' side of the ebay.

Hey...at least I can dream.

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me to be trying to think, but what would the benefit be of it being on the driver's side of the bay?

It was bound to happen eventually... Nissan doesn't use the VQ30 anymore in its newer cars, and Stillen was going to bail sooner or later on supporting its aftermarket too... esp on models that are 1-2 generations "behind" now. Oh well look at it this way, resale value of our supercharger kits just made a moderate increase.

The only crappy thing about it is that parts availability might be a *****, but whatever as we said above pretty much anything can be had elsewhere.

my guess, decreased piping...feed the blower directly through the MAF into the TB, probably be about 12-20" of piping....pulley system would be similar to the setup used on most B-series Hondas with that horizontil drive snout across from the drive belts(not sure of the actual name)

EDIT: ie-Kevlo's pic above, minu the FMIC setup....

Some Russian Cefiro, I believe the brackets are custom made. Looks like a very nice setup. I like the Headers too.

So you're saying similar to what Kevlo posted, except with the supercharger rotated to face towards the TB? Then have the MAF basically directly connecting the blower to the TB. Is that how you mean? That would involve like...no piping at all. Since it seems like the blower would be so close to the TB as it is. Maybe like an uber short bent piece of piping.

YUP! I'd imagine the response would improve significantly...for example...

not exact, but you get the point...

Yup. At Stillen Day, I spoke with Adam Hume for quit a while and he mentioned that the SC was being discontinued per Steve Millen's direction. He spoke with Steve and asked him to make 50 more kits, and then to discontinue it. Looks like it's a no go.

Speaking of Steve, given the total lack of support he's given many of us (myself included) when we've spent thousands of dollars on his products.. I hope that he drowns in a lake during a fishing accident. Won't be needing him anymore anyways since he doesn't make SC kits for our cars, and given better VQ35 products out there

If someone would build us a turbo kit worthy of $5K, I would too.

However, based on Stillens' kit for $3600-$4000, I'd pay the extra to get the TuningAutoDesign kit assuming the SC is properly sized and reliable.

I said setup, not kit But yeah, you're right. As far as kits go, I'd probably pay a little more money for that nicer one, too.
