A'PEXi S-AFC II install and tuning questions.

My brother just picked me up an APEXi safc II and I want to know how difficult the install is... I know if I just wing it and try an install, I will regret it.

Does anyone have detailed instructions and pics of an install? If I have good instructions I can do it myself, if not I will have to pay to have it installed.

I thought I heard that you can advance your timing with the safc II is that true?? if it is that would be great because I dont want to go to a dealer to have it done.

It is possible to tune it in without a dyno??? The closest dynojet to me is an hour away and they rape you because they are the only ones around.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the how-tos, I saw one for the 5.5 gen, maybe there's one for your car I missed. Good luck. Post up on how it runs after the tune.

i remember there was a thread on this before. you can access the harness by removing the panels that run along the lower side of the center dash (i don't remember which side). once you get access, get a wiring diagram and split the wire and connect it to the appropriate wires on the safc. the hardest part is just figuring out what wire does what.

I don’t think the actual install is difficult, but tuning is the key. If I were you I would have it tuned on a dyno. I had Keith at ADC in Phoenix tune mine, and he got me 17hp at 5100 rpm. I could give you the numbers, but I don’t think it would be wise due to the fact that all cars are a little different. Not only that, modification to the intake and the exhaust can also change you’re A/F mixture. I believe that’s why they say it should be one of the last things you mod.

Enjoy, it is a very useful tool. My car used to run dangerously lean, but now it pulls hard without pings or knocks.

Hey i didmine took me a few hours. I didnt tune it you really need some one with a wide band. There is a diagram in the book that comes with the safc2. I will tell you which diagram works when i get my car back from being tuned. I should have it back tuesday night. I finally get to see how my new setup feels.
