Hello guys first off as you can tell I am very new here and I don't own a Maxima yet I have a Chevy Tahoe. I love Nissans however since my first car was an Altima. And even at Altimas.net I hear alot of how nice Maximas are and such so in December I am hoping to trade my truck in for a 2k-2k1 Maxima. But on my Tahoe I have a viper alarm installed and I was curious when I do trade it in if I should have my alarm taken out and put the Max or does the Max have a factory alarm. I tried using the google search with no real reaults so sorry if this is a repost. Any help would be appriciated.

The GLE is the base model for Maxima? The GLE altima is the top model besides SE.

 

GXE = Base model .. GLE = top model

Your car has a vehicle immobilizer system, look it up in your manual if you don't know what that is.

 

Ahh so Nissan changed the models eh. Cuz on ym '93 the XE, GXE,SE,GLE was the waythe models went. What is it now?

Ahh ok so they just took away the Xe model. I am really loving the max look I am wanting black on black leather woth a sun roof. What do you guys have and what price range was it in?

i have a 2000 SE 5 speed, 110,000 miles. Bought it with 86,000 and I love it. for the few probs it gave me, this car is worth it. make sure before you buy one, come to the org and look up what to look for in a maxima.

 

Take a close look at your car's badge one more time. It should be "GXE" if you want to call your car "the cheapest".

 

no, we've been through this before...some of the 2k GLEs had bottom of the line equipment on them...though it was rare, there were some that had only the options that came on the GXEs but were labeled as GLEs...his was one of them...

Back to what you posted about...there is a vehicle immobilizer (means you can't start the car with just any key but you need a chip key...allthough this only translates to a pain in the rear when copying a key instead of a really huge safety measure sicne if someone wants it theyll get it)

Next, the maxima also has a pasive alarm (i think thats the name)...which means if you lock the doors with the key fob and a door opens the horn engages...you can shake the car all you want and smash all the windows and it aint goin off...however you can buy a sensor for the facory alarm so it will turn on with movement...anyone have a link to a good price?

 

by December, you could pickup a nice 2k-2k1 around $8-9Gs.

 

Correction- GXEs have no badges on them to identiffy them. All 5th gens have alarms, with remote keyfobs.

 

A "GLE" without power leather seats, leather steering wheel, alloy wheels, simulated wood trim? What's that? A rebadged GXE??? Why people did that to their car???

Two years ago I bought a 2K Maxima SE, black on black leather, fully loaded for $12,900. Great car!

 

just bought mine 2k GLE silver w/ black leather, 74k miles, no accident car, drive like new for 9.3G, a little pricy but happy with it.
