What involved in a 3.5 swap?

There is a lot of talk about the 3.5 swap. I some what comfused about the whole swap. I hear tilley has a 3.3 or something along those lines.

When doing a 3.5 swap is the whole engine swaped or just parts? Ive found a 3.5 for sale. Would it just bolt right up or would you have to swap somethings?

What is the full cost for a swap? I would like to do this when the vq30de goes (which shouldnt be anytime soon) but i would like to know a price and whats involved. Never done any engine swap before but i think i could with some guidance. How many 3.5 swaps are actually up and running now?

Thanks guys

Sean

Whole engine is swapped with the exception of timing equipment. IIRC, Tilley does them in his shop for 3K which includes parts and labor. There're a fair number of 4.5gens running around now:

emmas97
Dubbya
Nismo3112
Jclaw
JapmaxSE
and I'm probably forgetting a few.

Lol, 4.5 gen, I like that. Too bad they didn't come like that from the factory. It's actually a cheaper mod than MEVI/JWT ECU when done right.

If you do headers at the same time, I would guess 55-60whp.

But I believe Nismo's car is over a second faster than stock, with just a y-pipe and intake + 3.5.

Donate $20 and search. All the info has been posted but you need to sift through the threads for yourself.

Would my 4th gen never pass smog again? (friggin california ridiculous emissions control that has nothing to do with emissions)

I got denied at the smog station because of the JWT ecu. At least I can swap a stock in in <20 min. But if I do this swap and only have 2 years before its illegal... cause for hesitation
