How in HELL do you take this bolt out

I'm changing the springs in the rear of my 01 and the bolt wont come out. It seems that is all stripped and no way to take it out. Help before I put everything back together and sell the springs with the Illuminas..... Pic ina minute. The bolt and the lock moves att he same time and it has metal pieces in th emiddle so I cannot use pliers to hold the bolt in place.

if it's stripped, then you need to buy the sockets that are made specially to remove stripped nuts and bolts.

i have the craftsman set, i bought it at sears awhile back.

Stick a flathead screw driver in between the nut on the other side and the bracket thing. That will keep the nut from turning. It's better if one person does that, while the other actually tries to break if free. Also, PB blaster is your friend.

Are the bolt threads stripped or is the head of the bolt stripped? If the bolt threads are stripped, I would suggest cutting it off with a sawzall. If the Head of the bolt is rounded off, you can get a pair of vice grips and find a pipe big enough to go around the handles of the vice grips and take it out that way. I did my 03's and had to put a 20" breaker bar w/ a pipe to get mine out. Good luck

the threads are ok.. the problem is that the lock moves with the bolt.. I'll try the screwdriver, if it doesn't work.. I just leave the drop in the front...

those have to be the most hardest bolts to take out anywhere on the car.. air tools is a most definitely needed item..

I will not even attempt to take off any suspention part without them.. try and get some LONTAR or you will have a heck of a time trying to take it off...

I take mine out quite frequently to adjust my D2's????

They come out really easy for me. I just use a torque wrench to break them free and a 1/2" drive to finish taking them out. usually once it is free from the nut you can pull up on the rear brake and slide it out.

yea this could be the cheapest way LONTAR, I also have a torque wrench to do stuff with.. I would get one with a long handle so you have more leverage and be able to unscrew it easier..

Using a torque wrench in place of a breaker-bar is not the best idea, unless you like buying torque wrenches all the time. Torque wrenches are precision tools, not meant to be used as a leverage tool.

It has a lifetime warranty on it... if it breaks, I just get a new one for free...

Are you sure it's a lifetime warranty? Craftsman torque wrenches, for example, are not lifetime warranty like most of their other handtools. They only have a 1yr warranty. I know this because I just bought a TQ wrench a few weeks ago.

But guys the problem I have is the lock turning inside the metal falnges or whatever you guys called them. The bolt spins and the lock to. So I know a Torque wrench won't work , I need something that will keep the lock form turning...

your should be like mine... I would hope so.

Just find something to jam inbetween the nut and the metal the surrounds it so it cannot spin. just see if ou can stick an old screw driver in there.

I think I'm going to have to remove the caliper and everything in betwen so I can reach that bolt. I wil be doing this soon.. one last try.

I did and it still spins... I gave up and wil see what else can I think.. I tried pliers, screwdrivers, even a bolt, and nothing the lock still spins..... so the full drop will not be finish.......

i just took mine to my local muffler shop, $25 bucks and it was out, i even stripped it a lil, i did my whole suspension with the stock jack and a handful of random wrenchs, that bolt on the pass side was the only problem i had.
