Hi guys I have a question to you. Can someone who 100% sure tell me if 2kSe cluster will fit on my max because one org member told me that it won't and another one states that it will.

No. 01 clusters work on 00's (although they throw an ABS code), but 00 clusters will NOT work on 01s.

The cluster itself retains the mileage, so a new cluster you get will have to be programmed to your mileage.

sorry to hijack but, I fukced up my cluster in a failed attempt to make them brighter....worked great at first then the faces melted and all 4 guages stopped working

i bought a cluster off ebay, wasnt sure what year it was for, 00 or 01, or if a automatic cluster would work in a manual car- but it was cheap and i was tired of running out of gas. after i installed it i got an abs code so i guess it was a o1 cluster but the speedometer didnt work. is that b/c its an 01, its a cluster for a automatic tranny in a 5 speed car or b/c i screwed up more than my guages w/ my attempted mod?

Its gotta be one of the latter two. Because my 01 5spd cluster works fine in my 00 5 spd. Ive never heard of anyone swapping auto for 5 spd clusters though. But its weird because the problem you are having sounds to me like you are putting an 00 cluster in your 01. Those are the typical symptoms.

IMO, shoulda just gotten a brand new one from Dave B. Mine was under 200 bucks, programmed to my mileage and shipped. Then he can set your mileage, and you are sure that nobody f*cked with the cluster, because you never know with ebay. But thats just me, gauges are so delicate I would want to be sure they werent messed with.
