custom window mod?
custom window mod?
I live in VA, and we are getting the aftermath of all of the hurricains that have been hitting Flordia...in other words we have been having heavy rains most of the week.
So I was driving down the road in the middle of a hard rain, and my freaking drivers side window rolls down and will not go back up for a few seconds. Finally I get the window to go back up (I am now wet), but I just think maybe it will not happen again.....well about a minute later it does it again...hahahahhah. Anyway this has happened several more times this week. I am just wondering what part is going out that would roll my window all the way down when I am not pushing the switch? The best was when I had a friend with me and we were coming home in a down pour and the window did the same thing....so he is laughing his head off and I am getting soaked
Any ideas?

My best guess would be the auto-down timer control unit. When mine went out, it simply stopped letting the window go down at all. Never got it fixed/replaced before the car went down the last time.
It's a little white box, roughly 1" square, screwed to the driver door, under the panel, at the rear of the armrest.
With your description, it's either the unit is about to fail completely, or is shorting on the "open window" side of the circuit...
Last time I priced one locally, a used one was going for about $35...

I have another master driver side window switch panel, I am hoping if I replace that maybe that will fix it...but I will check what you are talking about too.

It sounds like water is getting to your window switch or the wires leading to the window switch or window motor. If you can find out where it's completing the circuit you should be able to use some electrical tape or something to keep the water from closing the electrical circuit.
it did it this morning, on my way to work, and it is dry this a.m.
I was out of town at a meet this weekend so I was not able to look at the car, I will try to get around to it one day this evening.
