I need to locate the engine stamped vin# and I am unsure of its location. If someone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

 

Firewall on passenger side under the hood. For some reason mine isn't there hopefully your's is and should be

 

If you mean engine code, it's on the firewall, or on the engine block, but the actual VIN is nowhere on the engine.

Doesn't the engine have a factory stamp somwhere, similar to the stamp on the tranny. My friend needs to pass an inspection for a salvage title maxima, and he failed it last time because they told him, there are no numbers on the engine that match the car. So I'm trying to find out if the engine has a stamp to begin with in the first place. On my SE-R, both the engine and tranny are stamped, but they're more part#'s than vin numbers. Is there any other way to tell if the engine matches the car. May it isn't the original engine, I don't know just trying to get to the bottom of it. Any other info you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

 

Engine VIN (black arrow), with the engine mounted, it'll be on the drivers side rear bank of the engine.
