Wiring Up Summit RPM Switch

yellow - to the VI, green/yellow wire on VI harness
Also make sure the VI has a fused source of +12V also. Keep in mind the Summit was made for V8s so you have to mess with the RPM settings a bit. Set the summit switch to activate at 3000 rpm, that equates to about 5500 rpm on our cars IIRC... And finally I can't stress this enough but make sure to solder and heat shrink all the wiring, dont just wrap them together.

And my VI never came with the harness with loose wires, so my friend was just going to solder the wires to the 2 pins on the VI harness.. Which Summit Wire solders up to which pin??
And there's also one gray wire -- any comments on that??
I already referred to this thread:

Next you want to solder the yellow wire (from the summit switch) to the right pin and the left pin connects to a power source like the cig lighter.
Also remember that the summit was made for a V8 so I think setting it to 2400 rpm will activate it at 4800 on our cars. But you may want to take it to a dyno to see what is the best time for it to activate on your car.

The yellow wire opens up a ground path when the set rpm is reached. The gray wire does just the opposite - it provides a ground path until the set rpm.
For the MEVI or 00VI, you want to use the yellow wire. Just ignore the gray wire.
ok thanks everyone..just want to make sure, can i get a confirmation:
1. Cig Lighter <--> Left Pin
2. RPM Switch Yellow <--> Right Pin
3. RPM Switch White <--> White w/ Green Stripe Wire behind Cluster
4. RPM Switch Gray <--> Ignore
5. RPM Switch Black <--> Ground
6. RPM Switch Red <--> Straight to Battery (with fused wire)
1. Cig Lighter <--> Left Pin
2. RPM Switch Yellow <--> Right Pin
3. RPM Switch White <--> White w/ Green Stripe Wire behind Cluster
4. RPM Switch Gray <--> Ignore
5. RPM Switch Black <--> Ground
6. RPM Switch Red <--> Straight to Battery (with fused wire)
where are u mounting the box in the bay or in the car?? Here's my setup
1) Power from battery <--> Left Pin
2. RPM Switch Yellow <--> Right Pin
3. RPM Switch White <--> White w/ Blue Stripe Wire in ECU Harness
4. RPM Switch Gray <--> Ignore
5. RPM Switch Black <--> Ground
6. RPM Switch Red <--> Cig Lighter
1) Power from battery <--> Left Pin
2. RPM Switch Yellow <--> Right Pin
3. RPM Switch White <--> White w/ Blue Stripe Wire in ECU Harness
4. RPM Switch Gray <--> Ignore
5. RPM Switch Black <--> Ground
6. RPM Switch Red <--> Cig Lighter
^^ well if that's the way you have it and since it works..it will make sense for me to mount it in the car somewhere since 2 RPM Switch wires go into the cabin and only 1 goes to the engine bay
Hate to bring this back from the dead, but which wire and which harness on the VIAS do i use to connect the RPM switch? There is a black plug and a brown plug on there, i have both of the harnesses, but i cant find anywhere specifying wich one to use, let alone which wire is suposed to be used for the "fused" power source that runs directly to the VIAS.
So for a quick summary: what wire is power on the VIAS, and which harness do i use? as well as what wire and harness do i run the RPM switch too?

Figured it out with some help, its the BLACK plug on the VIAS...altho i think i have been the only one that got confused about this, figured i would post to help anyone else out that may have gotten confused as well
