Whats a good Engine to put in a 95 MAX?!?

Hey you all! I just would like to know what engine would be convinient to put in my max. Since my Enginge has 173,663 miles. That engine has taken a beating. Ive taken it to the track its gotten 16.4 secs :S auto transmission. I wish they woulda got me a stick shift... Anyways i would like to hear your guys inputs on what engine would be perfect for power and reasonable for fitment. Thanks.

My engine has 230k, it's still fresh .. don't let the miles fool you.

DEK and VQ35 .. check the all motors forum ... Judging by your post .. The 3.5L won't exactly be convenient for you

Check your codes, or lose some weight, your car should be capable of better times.

You should be fine for awhile with the one you got. Otherwise I would go DE-K for the quickest easiest swap with good fitment.

HAHA. I love how everyone's like: "throw" this in.... "drop" this in. (Yes, I know it's a figure of speech, but still....)

It's a tad more complicated than that!

Just cuz the car is capable of getting/going >300k miles, doesnt mean that his particular engine will last that long. Maintenance and proper upkeep have much to do with it as well.

Your engine should be fine at that mileage, just because you didn't get a good track time doesn't mean it's the mileage on the engine. When was the last time you did a full tune up? Plugs, air and fuel filter, etc? Ever cleaned the throttle body? Ever run seafoam? Besides you are only like 1 sec behind the stated stock 15:5, that could have been a reaction time thing.

lol the DEK is the same and the VQ30DE but have the 00 Variable Intake Manifold i think...

The VQ35DE is the better swap but it isnt a bolt on. If your serious about a swap and you live in the northeast, contact Tilley. He has done a few swaps.

So you guys think i should do a compression test? Yes i have done a tune up on the car myself. I bought my car totally f-ed up engine wise.everything was clogged it had old transmission fluid everything. I cleaned the injectors cleaned the manifold. cleaned the intake. Ive done a bunch of stuff to it. In Track time wise i believe its the weight on my car... :S I mean the infiniti g35 rims are heavy and my sub as well and also the spare tire. Also how much would a compression test run for. Also what do i need to get it fixed if i have any problems. Although i bought some engine restorer for my cars oil. I've been putting that stuff in every oil change im guessing that helps my engine. Would changing the oil more often with such high milage be a good idea to do? Like every 3k miles. cause i do it at every 5k miles. I mean id like to hear ya'lls input im sorry but im still a tad bit newbie. I mean where i live there isnt very many places for car tuning. Since i live in the border of Tex and Mex. I still find it sad. People that race here; they all race low riders and new mustangs :S i dont see many imports Well let me know what i can do to bring up this max a bit better. Thanx

572 big block, or just do a comp test. Whoever said these engines could go to 300k was dead wrong, they should be able to surpass that by large amounts, esspescially with syn***ic and good care

just out of curiousity, what are the main problems keeping a VQ30DE from becoming a VQ30DETT?

Well, VQ30DET's were only produced for rear wheel drive cars and not for the American market. The blocks are slightly different for the different motor mounts (same reason why you can't swap a motor from a 350Z into a Maxima). However, because they are the same engine, you can switch all of the internals. It has successfully been done. There was a guy who bought a VQ30DET from Japan - he tore it down, tore down a US spec VQ30DE front wheel drive block and swapped all of the internals (pistons, valve springs, rods, etc) from the JDM motor into the US front wheel drive block. Presto! A real VQ30DET.

You can turbo a regular VQ30DE as they are. While they can handle a fair amount of boost as-is, they won't handle it as well and for the same mileage as a motor designed and built for running boost.

That'll do it! Rims can rob you of a lot of power, and extra weight isn't helping either. When you go to the track, clean the whole car out (even vacuum it!) and run with like 1/3 tank of gas (93+ Octane Unleaded only, please!). Taking an extra trip to the men's room can't hurt as en extra measure.

You can get a kit at most auto parts stores that allows you to test this yourself. Basically what you'll be doing is attaching a pressure gauge to the spark plug hole. If you have low compression, you have a piston ring or valve seat issue.

You don't need to put that "engine restorer" crap in your engine. There are a lot of debates on what to change your oil with and how often to do it, but remember this: it can never hurt to have clean oil in your engine, so changing it more often can't harm you at all. I change my oil every 3,000 miles with regular petroleum (non-synthetic oil). Some people do it differently, but I can say that my engine runs great at 210,000 miles.

LMAO!!!
The DE-K also had different cams, and some other differences as well. Bolting on an 00vi doesn't get you an exact DE-K, only most of the gains.
