I got pulled at a random checkpoint inspection today in old bridge NJ. i obvoiusly failed beacuse of my CEL of my 95 5speed cali spec technosquare ECU in my 95 fed spec 5speed car. its throwing a code for the evap canister, my question is, is that why i failed? i know that the fed spec cars have a mechanical evap, but the cali specs had electronically controlled evap canisters. i failed miserably on the HC's. i do have a cattman ypipe installed, but i was cruising for over 40 minutes before i got pulled into the checkpoint.

so basically, im not sure if my evap charcoal canister was working properly, or whether it was my ypipe, or if my cat converter is damaged.

i got pulled over because i had a crack in my windshield. i might just go back to stock and sell my car because im pretty tired of the upkeep involve in an older car.

 

The y-pipe does affect it, but it was probably a combination of the canister and the pipe.

I am so glad I do not live in Cali anymore.
