M/T swap Question

I found the write up on how to swap to a M/T from a A/T. But that using the same generation Maxima's. I was concidering swaping to a 5 gen trans and clutch. Could someone tell me what items I'll need or problems I will run into by using a 5 Gen instead of a 4 Gen. Also I have read that you must swap your ECM and either add or move a wire. I'm not real fimilar with could someone explain? I have a 99 SE auto with traction control and ABS. any help will be great.

I know you will have to use the axles that go with the transmission you're using. Can't tell you for sure about the ECU thing though... My '95 didn't need a M/T ECU when I got my swap, but I dunno if the '99 will be different.

i just swapped a 5th gen lsd tranny into my 4th gen. it's basically the same as the 4th gen except some parts will not fit. the master cylinder is the same, but the pushrod that goes into the master cylinder is different between 4th and 5th gens. also the clutch pedal assembly is different. i'm not sure about the clutch lines either since i used aftermarket ones but my guess is they should work. i'm not sure about the ecu issue, i've heard that 99's are a weird 4th gen to be messing with, but i got a 5speed ecu for my '95. hope that helps.

I'm not certain, but I don't believe that the 99 ever came with TCS and manual trans. If not, you will certainly lose that feature. The TCS lamp may remain illuminated on the dash to bother you, however.

Wel I was going to use only the 5 gen transmission & clutch everything else from a 4th Gen.

Oh yeah I forgot about the TCS. Will this be a problem if I keep the TCS along with the new Manual trans???

Please anyone else?? I don't want to even concider doing this if it's not going to work properly with a 99
