kroger gas sucks

i think it sucks at least.
i figured i could save money with my kroger card and buy my 93 octane without paying much more than if i bought 87 at the regular pump. but it feels like i actually bought 87.
when peopel explain how they went from 91 or 93 octane to 87 and how their engine lags and knock sensor acts up or whatever, thats what i feel right now.
My car felt sluggish when i was on the highway about 15 miles after filling up with the 93 kroger octane gas. I could feel the difference, and the second i stepped on the gas, my check engine light came on. It recently went off from being on an giving me the knock sensor code and rear heated 02 sensor code.
so i'm assuming its the knock sensor. i'll check tomorrow though.
i have driven it about 50 miles on this "93" octane kroger gas so i cant determine if my gas mileage is suffering.
does anyone know anything about the quality of gas at kroger or grocery stores? i find it hard to believe that all gas is equal.
i think from now on i'll stick with the chevron and shell's.

Repeat slowly after me: The Knock Sensor alone will not set the CEL.

But, if you scan the ECU or turn the screw to pull a code, will a KS code come up?

If the ECU has detected a KS failure yes, but since his light is lit, there should be at least one more code.
