Do i need a cat converter if...

do i need a new cat converter if i get a new y pipe for my max
i am looking to do some exhaust parts from warpspeed because they seem to have the best deals. i was thinking of getting a new y-pipe and a muffler to make it more quiet.

my question is: do i really need a cat converter if i purchase the y-pipe? does it make the y-pipe a more bang for your buck upgrade?

there is little/nothing to be gained from an aftermarket high flow cat. save your cash.

No. The bolts between the downpipe and cat may be rusted on though considering you live in the midwest. And an aftermarket high flow cat is useless unless you're boosted. Additionally, you would be best served sticking with the OEM muffler if you want the car quiet.

No, y-pipe alone is good ..... "Full" cat back is worth ~ 3whp ... y-pipe ALONE is still worth 12whp+

Now that I think about it, its odly funny we pay $160 or $200for a Y-pipe that gives more gains than a catback costing $400-$600.

Only reason you should spend money on a new hi-flow cat is if there is a problem with your stock one.

Ugly? Who cares! If it's rusted through, obviously replace it but the parent poster didn't say anything about that.

It is ugly BECAUSE of the rust. And my post was not in response to his post, it was in response to yours in which you say NOTHING is to be gained... which is not true...
