HELP- 5 spd tranny problem! shifting out of gear while driving.

when driving my tranny will shift out of gear in 2nd and 3rd. sometimes while shifting into first and second it will seem like its in second. while driving today in third it shifted out of gear and stalled. i can start the car right up but it keeps going out of gear. whats wrong?

i know that in the b12 and b13 sentras, 5th gear popout was a problem. as far as i know, the only cure is a new trans. if it still holds a little, you can hold it in gear, but the problem will only get worse. i may be wrong, but it sounds as if you should look for a new trans sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

edit: although i dont know what to tell you about it stalling....

yeah it poped out of gear a few times then finally shut off, dont know why, maybe cause it went from 2-3k to near 0 when it went out of gear.

yeah that might be it. if you want to search for a tranny, try going to www. car-part.com.... since you are in ny, there are 2 u-pull-it yards relatively close to you in allentown, PA. if you wanted, tilleys99 may be able to pull and put one in for you. if you want to call him, his shop number is 717-867-0381. either way, good luck with your car.... it should be ok to drive on, if you can skip those gears or only use them lightly, they should last a little longer
